@TomSteyer Tom, are you going to force them into treatment or put them in jail if they do not go? Many will not go into a shelter because they can do their drugs on the street but not in a shelter.

The best way to address homelessness is by keeping people off the streets. If they do end up there, then we need to get them shelter as quickly as possible.

At our city-owned grocery stores, staples like eggs and bread will actually be affordable. And we're going to do it the right way, without cutting workers' pay or dignity. We need a budget that PROTECTS OUR PUBLIC LANDS. Trump is planning to cut 3,000 National Park staff–& this is after a quarter of staff were pushed out ALREADY.   I told Sec. Burgum that’s a recipe for disaster. I’ll be throwing Trump’s budget in the trash & writing a new one.

A friend of mine from college days just bought a house in Katy last year. Makes $200K/year in Texas. Wife and kid. Called me last week like "bro, the economy is actually cooked." I laughed. "you make $200K, man. what you crying about" He then showed me the math... $200K in Texas = $12,800/month take-home > $2,510 mortgage > $620 property taxes (Texas will bleed you quietly) > $350 homeowners insurance > $150 HOA (for a gate, a pond, and a newsletter nobody reads) > $1,800 health insurance for the family > $1,000 daycare for ONE kid > $1,050 groceries > $500 car note > $220 car insurance > $350 utilities > $375 home maintenance Total: $8,925 He's left with $3,875. Then, he still has student loans, date nights and holidays sitting on the side. A decade ago… A quarter of that salary is what somebody needed to buy that same house and raise that same family. Now $200,000 a year and you're still watching your account like something is wrong. The economy is really cooked for 9-5ers

Shouldn’t we have a mechanism to deal with an ineffective Congress other than waiting for the next election cycle? We have a Congress that is defying the will of 80% of the people. There should be a mechanism to deal with them.
