@radiodormouse @_addogg It was the right decision for Toy Story but I wish they experimented more with style and tone after The Incredibles. Like a Pixar take on Fantasia or Heavy Metal

@lemoncloud22936 @_addogg If you look at the Toy Story boards, the designs (and story) were a lot nastier with an more explicitly evil Woody. It was almost SpumCo-esque. Vestiges of this survive in the finished film, but Pixar probably made the right marketing move by softening it.

@radiodormouse @_addogg It would be better if the scripting was in service of actually cool/unique art tho. Like they could have played off the edgier elements like MTV and Bakshi did with in the 80s and 90s

@_addogg Visually I find the Pixar look bland. The scripts were mostly well-done though, especially compared to what Disney was doing at the time.

The Tiny Toons Flip Cars were so cool - character-themed cars on both sides of the wheels. Loved these as a kid. (1991)

the other reason you know zoomer aesthetics are whack is because they unironically like American Girl when the look of these things is absolutely terrifying
