@_addogg @spumdonor Regardless of his earliest works and being a comic strip artist; Matt Groening made an arguably more negative impact on animation with The Simpsons as soon as he & the other executives became concerned that the Klasky-Csupo crew's funny drawings might distract from their writing

John K. came along at the right time. That’s it. He didn’t invent “cartoony” or “funny.” He wasn’t even pitching R&S… they were minor characters in a completely different show concept… it was an executive who pointed them out and said, “I like them… do that!” And he did. He owes his career - one he pissed away by being a loathsome scumbag - to one of the very network suits he always claimed to despise. So… in addition to everything else, he’s a hypocrite. He surrounded himself with talented people who made his cartoons great. That’s what good producers do. He did an effective job producing great cartoons. But let’s not pretend he effectively reinvented the wheel. (awaiting the sound of the inevitable “pop” in the distance as his devoted apologists heads explode)
