If any MP wants to shadow me on a full set of on-calls, I’ll happily arrange for it. Come see what we do as resident doctors.

This is just what some doctors have reported. The truth is likely much, much worse. Trusts cannot continue putting patient lives at risk to pinch pennies. Locum rates must be escalated to fill gaps! @TheCountessNHS @WUTHnhs Stop putting your bottom line above patient care.
Mersey Regional Resident Doctors Committee@MerseyRRDC

In just 2 months, across 2 hospitals in our region: → 30+ consultants stepped down to cover ED resident gaps → 28 other individual reports on unfilled shifts reported → Up to 3 gaps left open per shift

@DoctorsVoteUK @wesstreeting "The power to stop these strikes lies squarely with the government and the Secretary of State. So what on Earth are they playing at?" What, indeed. For "a drop in the ocean." (Rachel Reeves, July 2024). All of this could have been avoided.

Absolutely disgraceful racism from @jkyleofficial on @TalkTV. As the camera zooms in on me and @DrHWazir on the picket line, he sneers that “a lot of them have come into this country to be doctors.” He based this solely on the colour of my skin. I was born in the UK. I studied and trained in the UK and I currently work as a doctor in the NHS. My grandfather fought for this country in WW2. This is racist, demeaning, and utterly unacceptable.

Solidarity with doctors on strike today. They’re not asking for a pay rise. They’re asking for pay restoration after a decade of cuts. The government’s response? Take away vital training jobs, harming us all. Hardworking NHS staff will always have my full support!

@DHSCgovuk @wesstreeting @TheSun The waiting lists are still over 6 million and your response has been to put an ultrasound scanner in the old Wilko's. We need more doctors. You decided to cancel 1000 consultant and GP training spots out of spite. All whilst pocketing a higher pay rise than doctors.

We’re resident doctors. Using the outdated term “junior” downplays the responsibility we carry. We perform life-saving procedures. There’s nothing “junior” about it. The Health Secretary resorting to name-calling and infantilising rhetoric, is not an indication of good faith.
Department of Health and Social Care@DHSCgovuk

"NOBODY wants strikes in our NHS. Every time junior doctors walk out, it's patients who feel the impact — and other NHS staff left picking up the pieces." @WesStreeting on how these strikes will mean delayed operations and families left waiting in pain. This Good Friday at Arrowe Park, whilst doctors were NOT on strike: We received reports of patients needing critical treatments, including blood transfusions, waiting over 24 hours due to severe staffing shortages.

Doctors are working over the bank holiday weekend. They are often working on overstretched rotas, but put in a Herculean amount of work for their patients. On a BH the lowest paid member of staff is a doctor. This sort of low effort disrespect is why doctors are striking.

@NHSuk Is that if the Dr's can be bothered to turn up and not play strike!

Kind of seems like other unions should take @TheBMA 's lead and join us on the picket lines, doesn't it? Solidarity with workers and their representatives. NHS workers especially! theguardian.com/politics/2026/…

That’s not how negotiations work. You failed to make a credible offer. Now patients are being punished by the removal of 1000 doctors. 1000 surgeons and GPs, paediatricians and radiologists. That’s not good enough. There’s still time to do better. We’re waiting
Wes Streeting@wesstreeting

Thanks to this Government resident doctors have already received a 28.9% average pay rise. The deal on offer goes further on pay, and would create more training places - including 1,000 now. The BMA can’t even offer an alternative proposal. I’d urge everyone to read this👇🏻

In 5-10 years’ time, when a good chunk of today’s consultants and SAS doctors retire, and you or your loved ones need good healthcare care but can’t even get a referral sent to hospital. Remember that this was the political choice made by Wes Streeting and Kier Starmer.

‘Is there anyone else you know who has had a 28.9% pay rose in the last 3 years,’ asks Nick Robinson disbelievingly of an NHS doctor. Last year, Robinson’s BBC pay rose by at least £135k

"Is there anybody else you know in your life who has had 28.9% over the last three years?" @bbcnickrobinson presses Dr Jack Fletcher, from the BMA, on previous pay increases and the planned industrial action by resident doctors over a pay dispute with the government.

Apparently it was national doctors day yesterday. Anybody seen anything from ANY royal college, NHS Trust, NHS body, or anyone else celebrating it?
