Caring has been central to my life, and the lives of millions across the country. I'll be meeting the Prime Minister today to discuss how we can finally find a solution to the care crisis. We need to do things differently. I really hope we are on a journey to fix this.

This is the result of many bad legacy decisions taken by UKRI hastily and without proper consultation, overseen by a government department that no longer exists. Surely the new @andyburnham government will want to take time to review this.

I’d rather he chose Oswestry or Marker Drayton - social care costs are devastating rural council finances and Labour appear not to give a damn about them.

@LibDems have been calling for the Casey Commission to report back *this year* and for support for family carers to be central to the plans to transform social care. Ed is right - we can’t fix the NHS without fixing social care. We’ll continue to work cross party to just that.

One of Labour’s heavy-hitters in health. A surprising appointment, but a highly experienced Secretary of State. I hope we can work with her to transform social care to fix the NHS.

Disappointing not to hear anything from the new PM on social care, on Europe, or on protecting our precious natural environment. I hope that will come very soon – Britain can't wait much longer.

Warm words on Gaza and the West Bank are welcome. But as Prime Minister, Andy Burnham must match them with urgent action - before the prospect of two states, Israel and Palestine, disappears altogether.

If we are ever going to fix social care, we need to work across party lines. I've invited @AndyBurnham to sit down once he becomes Prime Minister, in hopes of finally solving this crisis which takes such a toll on families, our NHS and our economy. There is no time to waste.

Andy Burnham has a chance to fix our broken political system now, before it is too late. Introduce proportional representation, give everyone an equal vote and an equal voice in our democracy, and make sure no politician or political party can afford to take them for granted ever again.

The news about Anne Widdecombe is just awful. My heart goes out to her friends and family.

This week @LouiseAThompson and I handed in our petition to Number 10 calling for an independent expert Maternity Commissioner. More than 167,000 people signed the petition and, alongside it, we delivered a box to Downing Street filled with letters from families across the country sharing their experiences of birth trauma and poor maternity care. These stories were a powerful reminder of why this campaign matters. Too many women and families feel unheard, unsupported, and left to navigate the lasting impact of traumatic experiences during pregnancy, birth, and beyond. I am incredibly grateful that the Government has now committed to appointing a Maternity Commissioner. This is a significant milestone and a testament to the power of collective action and lived experience. But this is only the beginning. The focus must now be on ensuring this role delivers meaningful change, drives greater accountability, and keeps the voices of women and families at the centre of improving maternity care.
