Visually she completely matches the older, grumpy Toph vibe, but the fandom would lose its mind over the casting choice.
Maisie Williams already played the blind assassin trope perfectly with Arya Stark, but Netflix is heavily prioritizing accurate cultural casting for Avatar.
Would this be an absolute 10/10 cast or a massive miss?

Would Maisie Williams from Game of Thrones make a good live action Toph?
English

Toph being a living lie detector means every piece of love she got from the Gaang was 100% genuine to her.
What is your favorite wholesomeness moment from the show?

The nicest thing about katara telling toph she's pretty is that toph believed her because she could tell when people lied. So toph knew she was telling her truth❤️❤️

One very common criticism people are giving to the finale is that Homelander's power level got nerfed, and it’s true.
But I think the writers could have fixed this by adding that just before the final battle, the boys infect him with the (non-airborne) Supe virus. This would fix so many things about the fight.

English

@SymplyTonbra That’s true. But I could swear that dude even be lying about the Mariana Trench event.
English

@lorxell People clown on him, but biologically he’s durable enough to survive 8 tons of pressure per square inch. He’s lowkey a tank, just a deeply deeply unhinged one

A-Train was actively undergoing a redemption arc and trying to move away from meaningless killing. More importantly, he realized that the only way to truly guarantee his family's safety was his own death. Once Homelander executed him for his final betrayal, the hunt for his civilian family officially became "case closed
English

In seasons 1–4, Homelander was compelling because he knew he wasn’t a hero, he just pretended to be one for praise. That mix of menace and fragility made him fascinating.
In season 5, he truly believes he’s God. That shift turns him into a mindless lunatic, which feels underwhelming. I get that he’s “losing his mind,” but I expected him to become more cruel and calculating, not dumber.
The old Homelander wouldn’t treat an angel daydream as a divine sign.

English

@lorxell Well, that is what religious beliefs do to your sanity.
English

@lorxell Honestly, spot on. The psychological tension used to come from him playing the corporate PR game while being a monster behind closed doors. Seeing him completely detached removes that layer of complexity
English

@lorxell Absolutely phenomenal performance. He completely stole every single scene he was in!

@SymplyTonbra @rhoyallguy97540 It’s weird tbh, but I guess it isn’t bad too
