@Notwokenow Just a slight correction. It wasn't the rape of 250,000 girls, it was the industrial scale grooming, trafficking and rape of over 250,000 young girls typically occurring several times a day over many years. It included the participation of police, politicians and carers.

@raelbrav Serious crime needs to be deterred. Is life in prison as good a deterrent as a barbaric death penalty? Usually 'life' means less time than life. A public guillotining while facing upwards IS life and I would argue is a more effective deterrent as well.

I find myself conflicted. On the one hand, there is the case for capital punishment. On the other, one cannot ignore the possibility that a lifetime spent behind bars, stripped of freedom and condemned to endure the consequences of one’s actions, may constitute a harsher and more enduring punishment.
