Not everything is trauma and the obsession with calling it that is creating a generation that can't handle reality. Trauma is real abuse and harm. Life altering trauma is not having parents who are imperfect, overwhelmed, emotionally immature, or raised you with the tools that they had. What's happening now is that discomfort is being upgraded into trauma because it gives people a permanent excuse to stay angry and to stay stuck. Once you decide you're a victim of your upbringing, you don't have to grow, you don't have to reflect, you don't have to take responsibility who you are and where your growth needs to happen, you just blame and you call it healing. Parents become the target and personal responsibility disappears. That narrative doesn't heal anyone. It keeps people fragile, resentful, and dependent and it destroys families in the process.
