Blown away by @MissGrayinK’s students and what they noticed about the hundreds chart today using the @MLCmath Number Chart app to record their thinking!

@malmess13 A4 - my next step is to practice all of these strategies with staff…they are learners, too. What works well for young ppl works well for us adults too. I’m thinking of ways to improve PD sessions.

A4: I realized that I haven't been thinking about the types of hints I give, so I am going to try to be more purposeful moving forward and think about the outcome of my choice of hint #octmchat

How often do utilize thin slicing sequencing vs. low floor/high ceiling tasks? It seems as though through thin slicing you have an opportunity to "cover" a large amount of material at once. Do you then go back and dig deeper through rich tasks? #octmchat

A2: 2nd grade measurement- they are expected to measure an object twice with 2 different units; maybe each time one measurement tool stays the same and the other changes and you build to more complex lengths #octmchat

It provides opportunities for teachers to see what students know and understand in the moment and allows for instant feedback. #octmchat

@pgliljedahl I love how you say feeling in the moment. The concepts of knowledge mobility and flow have changed the way I look at classrooms while students are working and conversing. What I observe, how I observe, what stands out, etc. has been shaped by those two concepts! #octmchat

A1: I find it is way easier to use this form of differentiation. And I fell more in the moment when using it. #octmchat

Here is Q2 for #octmchat. How might you use thin slicing in an upcoming lesson?

@bwoof That is wonderful! It is fun to see how these practices spread as teachers see others utilizing them they want to try them out too! #octmchat
