Xbox has been self aware about this weakness fwiw. Phil Spencer told me years ago that Microsoft lacks the ability to operate as an entertainment company unlike Nintendo or even Sony with its music/films. it speaks to Xbox's inability to retain and nourish a creative culture.

@thejolson the point is that they need to retain and grow talent. but the fact that they kicked out shinji mikami’s studio, harvey smith etc. shows that they don’t know how to keep career entertainers to still work with them. entertainment is about the talent not the product.
