Already happening. Last Sunday I subbed inmy son’s class. I don’t remember how he related the various sports cars he’s owned and showed pictures of and described their model names in detail on his iPad while he led the kids in singing… oh yes it was hot or cold and he had them hide a car and one find the car while the others sang louder or quieter depending on how close they got…. Was great and lovely refreshing change for the kids :) especially the boys.

No, I get it. When technology creates a tool that provides something in abundance, the opportunity for humans providing that service collapses. Unemployment in that category skyrockets. Obviously. Take photography. From 2010 to today, the penetration and capability of smartphone cameras exploded. In 2010, to get a really good photograph--say a portrait of your family--you basically had to either be a photography nerd or hire a professional. Now, the iphone has literal Portrait Mode. Anyone can do the work of a professional. No surprise: the number of professionally employed photographers in the US is... [checks notes] ...up 34% over the past 15 years.

@krispuckett Same, vercel is so good. Was a diehard Webflow/Framer user. Custom build on vercel is 💯 the way to go these days.

After like 4 years - cancelled my Framer subs and moved everything over to a custom build on Vercel. I feel a little bad because I really love the team but $500+/yr for hosting etc feels wild at this point.

here's how I optimized video assets on my site and improved perceived performance: - added a tiny ( ~30px wide ) `base64` encoded blurred inline image for each snippet, rendered as an underneath the video ( renders instantly! ) - moved all the videos to @Cloudflare CDN. previously was using @nextjs `/public` local path. which was fine when I had only 2-3 videos - added both `.webm` and `.mp4` formats via elements ( .mp4 as fallback in case browser doesn't support )

Ya'll need to stop using chatGPT for all your writing. I just posted a job, and nearly every application is the same AI slop of an answer. Every time I see that, I basically disregard everything said because I can't tell if it's genuine or not. I'd rather have someone type 2 sentences, have some typos, and hit send, because that would tell me there is real living breathing person on the other side.
