@roddaut @arvidkahl There’s 2 parts to this. Spotify Premium subscription includes 15 hours per month of audiobooks. Spotify doesn’t support purchasing audiobooks from within the iOS app because it would require giving Apple 30% Hence the bit about using topups purchased outside the app.

@arvidkahl So, there is a limit to how many hours you can listen to audiobooks on Spotify. Even if you purchased it?

A consumer story in two pictures. “You can’t listen to this anymore for a month. Also, there’s no exceptions, even for money. Even though you already pay for this.” Okay. *immediately goes to competitor*

Aside from the size of the table, I’m wondering if there could be performance issues with this approach if it’s a channel with a lot of users. E.g. User creates a new Topic. As part of that request it would require creating a TopicSubscription for each User who is a member, unless the TopicSubscriptions are created in a background job?

Every time a User joins a Channel, they would get a TopicSubscription record for every Topic in the Channel, whether it was created today or 10 years ago. If I go this route, this could be a very big table. Any suggestions? What would you choose?

I'm waffling on an architectural decision with liminal.forum. Each forum is a Space made up of Channels. Channels have Topics, which have Posts. I've created TopicSubscriptions to track the User's first unread Post and whether they should be sent a notification.

Wondering when the next season of Silo will come around. For now, the (amazing) work soundtrack will have to do.

@Erwin_AI I haven't taken any myself, but I've heard good things about Wes Bos's "Tailwind CSS From Scratch" course on Frontend Masters.

What are some of the best Tailwind CSS courses out there? And how did you learn and/or discover Tailwind?

If you like the new @SavvyCal marketing site launched a few months ago, the man behind much of the design (my friend Daniel) is launching a new agency called Opto. Worth a look if your want to make your site 80% better without breaking the bank!

@daniel_nguyenx @kondorYEG I first came across this attributed to Bjarne Stroustrup as “There are only two kinds of languages: the ones people complain about and the ones nobody uses.”

Hating a particular tech is kinda silly IMO. First the hate on PHP, then JavaScript, then Tailwind CSS and now Rails. I mean if it doesn’t work for you, find another tool. Just know that someone, somewhere uses that tech for a living and they’re happy with it.

@r00k Happy birthday, Ben. You are one of the reasons I still read Twitter. Recent videos such as the one on clearing your mental cache are 🔥 And from longer ago, Refactoring Rails contained so much good advice to keep referring back to.

Okay so, the new Airchat is impressive, I did not expect it to be this good. A lot are referring to it as a social walkie-talkie. It makes sense why Naval built this for himself. It’s invite only, directions at end of thread if you want one. Some initial findings:
