My father, who will be 101 yo in April, and a WWII Navy vet, made the mistake of turning on the news today. He saw where European nations refuse to help the US with the Strait of Hormuz. His words “Fk em! Fk NATO. Stop helping them!” I love the Greatest Generation.

So make ourselves dependent on Communist Chinese supply chains instead? How do you think that’s going to work out? Why should a sizeable rural community with massive familial, cultural and economic investment in an area agree to blight their parish with a thousand acres of Chinese solar glass, a battery storage facility incapable of being safely extinguished if it goes into meltdown and all to supply @OmnesCapital’s (a French private equity company) two multinational off-take customers for their data centre on the outskirts of Dublin? Add to this that solar in Ireland without massive subsidies is non-viable (we need cheap power not more subsidised power), the fact that there is nothing in this for the community other than a big drop in the value and amenity of our homes and farms and a blight on our landscape (not to mention the serious environmental risks) and you will start to understand. Then understand something else, for months and even on Christmas Day, certain of those inventivised to make this happen, went around intimidating local families, vandalising property and inflicting a climate of fear. All for the cause you are promoting. Then there are the works commenced without any planning or consultation, like rules are for the little people. We want power that is cheap, abundant and smart. In Ireland, solar ain’t it. You want to cut over reliance on imports? Drill for gas, build SMR’s, build off shore tidal. This solar push is a racket that in our case even comes with ‘enforcers’, I’ve been watching up close.

Ferrari would dust off their own V10 blueprints from 2005/2006 so bore you have two suppliers at the very minimum. Strongly suspect Cadalac would love a move V10 also, thats 3

@mickeycarty @tiff_tv @F1 You could probably kiss goodbye to Mercedes for a start then. No good would ever come from all teams being reliant on one engine manufacturer. And I seriously doubt the smaller teams are "very profitable".........

Sadly it's the manufacturers that pay the bills who insist we have to be 'road relevant' ... bollox, @F1 cars are about as road relevant as a Chieftain tank!

Before the State of the Union. Can you imagine the alternative if he was not 47. I cannot. We are safer, economically better off and stronger. He has assembled a great team and it shows. I feel pretty good about the State of the Union. I think America should as well.

They stand with Zelenskyy, not with the Hungarian people. Four years on, the stakes are clear. In April, Hungarians must choose Fidesz.

Just came through the scanner machines at Dublin airport with a defective concrete block. Got stopped and questioned. Which is only right. It's a pity that the state isn't as half as committed to monitoring blocks before they end up in people's houses and destroy their lives.

@LindseyGrahamSC If Britain is really blocking us from using their bases, that’s a huge problem. Allies don’t tie America’s hands when threats like Iran escalate.

If it turns out to be true that Britain is denying the United States the ability to use British bases against Iran if there is a necessity for an attack - it would be beyond surprising.  I’ve been a military lawyer most of my adult life. What they’re saying about the status of Diego Garcia, the joint US-UK military base, is a huge question.  The bottom line is the largest state sponsor of terrorism on the planet is the weakest it’s been because the people of Iran have risen up by the millions to end their oppression and the United States and Israel have delivered crushing blows to the regime’s military infrastructure.  To my friends in Britain, sitting this one out puts you on the wrong side of history and is yet another example of how much our alliances throughout Europe have degraded.
