I never talk about these things because I usually find them gross and self-serving but today is feeling like a different day. I just physically received this yesterday, but it was from last year's awards and actually from the work we did on @BallySportsSW in the 2021 season. That season was a rough one. The Rangers lost 103 games, broadcasters didn't travel and my dad past away that August. Crap year. With all that was going on we never mailed it in and I found myself especially proud of our group's work. My name is on this but make no mistake these things don't happen because of one person. Not even close. It takes cameramen like Robert who gives us amazing tight shots of pitch grips. And Larry, Greg, Vic, Hoch and Peter among others who get us the shots we need for amazing live coverage and replays. We have THE BEST audio people in the business led by Toast and Malcolm who make us hate going on the road. Our EVS work is on point, our graphics people crush. EJ has been doing stats/graphics on Rangers TV for decades and is a behind the scenes anchor for what we do every night. You probably never notice directors until you have a bad one. We don't. Vito and Diz have taken over for a legend in Dave Burchett and we haven't missed a beat. Our booth stats Steve and stage manager Ally never get the credit they deserve for keeping things on track in the booth. Jen was with us a lot that year on stage too and was awesome. Our lead producer Dress is the captain steering this ship and making sure we don't hit an iceberg. We've been close a couple of times. None of it works without great partners in front of the camera and I could never love this job without Dave & Emily most nights and of course Tom that year, Murph and Val and Lesley and Rhads and our great pre/post crew. I will miss some important people here because there are so many that make this thing work. Our industry is chartering some rough waters right now and this is completely out of character for me but I felt like saying it today, we're good at what we do and we have amazing people. We have been recognized quite a bit in my time here for our work and I never talk about it (no Emmy total in the bio), none of us do, we just grind. 2021 sucked but we were good and continue to be. This has my name on it but they made it happen. Role red!

The story of the last time I saw @GrantWahl in person. ❤️ It's been inspiring reading everyone's memories of Grant these last few days and how much impact he had on so many.

April 2020, some friends & I did a Zoom inviting the most famous names in our contact list to see who would show up. I texted Grant, but wasn't sure he'd be up for it. He had just been let go from SI, and was dealing with a lot. But, of course, he made time to hang with us.

Grant always had my back. Before I was anyone or did anything legit in the soccer space, he supported me. Mentored me. And then he became a dear friend. It is impossible to imagine him just ... not being with us anymore. I hope he knew how much he meant to my life.

I am at a loss for words…. Grant Wahl was more than just *THE* soccer guy….. he was extremely kind and welcoming to everyone in the soccer world and most importantly- he was brave and when people didn’t have a voice he raised his for them.
