We'd all be better off with less rants and more compassion for each other & their work.

I love the format of this, where one person tries to write something useful using a library, with guidance from the library author

📽️ The recording is up from last week's spotlight on the Orderator library. youtube.com/watch?v=-Ko3Gj… We start with an introduction to the concept as a generalization of streams. Then we dive straight into adding some Orderator functions, from the simple to the more mind-bending.

@agileSeong Skunk has a much, much better developer experience. It’s also cross platform and avoids jdbc cruft. If using Postgres, I’d definitely use Skunk. Then I’d use Doobie for any non-Postgres use cases. Both are great.

The second edition is almost 200 grams heavier than the first one, which absorbed so many of my tears!

I strongly believe our industry will mature to the point of putting "made with Rust" below feature list (or at least not in the tagline), at some point in the future. This is what technological optimism is all about.

Functional Programming in Scala 2nd Edition is in print! Huge thanks and congrats to @mpilquist for updating the whole book and converting all the code to Scala 3. I'm told there's a 45% discount if you use the code pbpilquist, until May 24. manning.com/books/function…
