One notable aspect of the Ovechkin contract talks - if it goes beyond July 1, with limited UFAs available, it’s very possible some team jumps in and offers a lucrative deal that the Caps would likely need to match, so in their best interest to close before then.

Notable UFAs for Washington are Duhaime, TVR, Kampf, Liljegren and Ovechkin. Milano in Hershey also a UFA. Main RFAs are Lapierre and McMichael.

A weird season. PLD, Wilson, Leonard injuries led to inconsistency in key stretches. Couldn’t find a rhythm until it was too late, unfortunately.
Now, we wait to see what the future holds for No. 8.
