@important_hair @dldavis88 We will see, I do wonder if Sandin wasn’t hurt if he would come back. He has some upside but not really more than a depth signing at the moment.

@TedStarkey @dldavis88 Think that was more about lineup consistency and TvR finding another level in those do-or-die games down the stretch. Coincidentally, they did the same thing with him. He sat out most of 20-21 and they surprised everyone by extending him, making him a regular the next year

Caps make it official, sign Timothy Liljegren for 2 years at $6.5M total. Was acquired from the Sharks for a fourth-round pick from the Nic Dowd deal.

@important_hair @dldavis88 He didn’t play a lot before Sandin got hurt so would think this is more an insurance policy. And Carbery certainly has had defensemen in the press box.

@TedStarkey @dldavis88 I know you weren’t a fan of their deadline but I’m surprised this doesn’t change your perspective on that trade. Liljegren will absolutely play and has middle-pair upside. A fourth for two years of him is more than reasonable

@dldavis88 Yeah, neither of the deadline adds were impressive. This one seems to be more for depth.

The Double D Experience
@TedStarkey I have a funny feeling that whoever the Sharks draft in the fourth round is going to have a much more productive and financially efficient career. This feels like chasing good money after a bad trade to cover up your mistake.

Hearing the Washington Capitals and D Timothy Liljegren are close to a 2-year extension worth $3.25M AAV.

Both 2002 and 2006 Carolina won their series against Montreal by a 4-2 count. The Whalers lost to the Canadiens in five different playoff series during the franchise’s time in Hartford.

Since Carolina’s Game 7 win over Buffalo in 2006, the Hurricanes are just 1-16 in Eastern Conference Final games, winning one last year against Florida. Clearly this will be Carolina’s best shot to break through.

Both years Carolina went to the Cup Final they beat Montreal. Going to happen if they advance again.

For all the talk about the non-call on the Dobes hit, they probably got an early whistle on the non-goal because of it.

Buffalo won its lone Game 7 in OT at home against Ottawa in 1997. Lost in 2OT in 2001 vs. Pens at home.

Sabres got too cute at the blue line and it cost them. Didn’t generate the chances in OT.
