@Kyn_Okk @bismarkhen Religious fervor + Christian hostility changes nothing. Did christianity suddenly change when it became hostile to Islam or Judaism? We are talking about Greek philosophers including plato. It’s a fact that the platos successor preferred platonism over Christianity

@mtaimran @bismarkhen Yes, and the point is late platonism with its more religious fervor and anti-Christian rhetoric shouldn’t be confused with earlier Platonism. Just their monotheism would have fascinated Plato. We’re talking about Plato here, not his later successors who competed with Christians.

Plenty of greek philosophers, Plato in particular, would find Christianity and Islam to be great and favour them over the olympian religion

@Kyn_Okk @bismarkhen Plotinus was a platonist and Neoplatonism is just a term for late platonism. What you are saying is don’t confuse Jesus and the apostles with church fathers like St. Augustine

@mtaimran @Alonso_GD Polanski has ruled out working with Sir Kid Starver, and the modern day (right wing) Labour Party would rather see Farage in power than the greens. Not gonna happen.

I’m transitioning from “can the Greens get to 20%?“ to “can the Greens get enough seats to frustrate a potential Reform-Tory coalition government?”

Was just chatting with my old man and he dropped a good one on me: "You can't let the bastards make you give up hope. That's their whole gameplan, those bastards. Don't let the bastards win."

You only grasp the extent of it reading writers from the time, reading the analyses after and…just looking at image after image like this.

I’m well aware that Starmer is not liked and is criticised from both the left and the right, which demand exactly opposite things. But I have to say it: he gives me the impression of a good man trying to do the right thing, with all the fallibility that comes with being human.

Speaking at the launch of Labour's local elections campaign, Prime Minister Sir Keir Starmer said the conflict in the Middle East "is not our war, and we are not going to be dragged into it." live updates: trib.al/Q9kOvd9

there is this weird societal trend about wanting to be permanently young. i think peptides and longevity are cool for wellness but they are sort of twisting it to a point where it's now "30 is the new 20" and i think u can sort of chuck it to a larger piece of the puzzle where there is just a general refusal to accept that life has consequences and wanting to stay in your little bubble unchanging alot of modern trends seem to amplify that - sovereign individualism, being more online / loss of 3rd places, the whole mental illness culture as "my feelings are more important than facts" you grow up because things are hard, because your body changes, because people depend on you, because you can't undo decisions. if you systematically remove or deny all of those forcing functions, you get people who are chronologically 35 but psychologically still in a kind of extended adolescence - not because they're stupid, but because nothing in their environment has demanded they change.

Too many are too polite to say this. But mass ritual prayer in public places is an act of domination. Perform these rituals in churches if you wish. But they are not welcome in our public places and shared institutions. Trafalgar Square belongs to all of us. It is a national memorial to our independence and our salvation. Last night was not like a televised football match or a St Patrick’s Day celebration. It was an act of domination and therefore division. It shouldn’t happen again.
Sadiq Khan@SadiqKhan

Today is Palm Sunday, marking the beginning of Holy Week as we approach Easter. Today's procession across Trafalgar Square to St Martin-in-the-Fields is a powerful retelling of the story of Jesus’s arrival in Jerusalem.
