Yesterday was a milestone day in my life, one that I will not soon forget. Thank you, @DallasSeminary, for the opportunity to preach during Senior Preaching Week. It was a tremendous and humbling honor. Christ be exalted! voice.dts.edu/chapel/senior-…

@Bmo827 @MLB When faced with opposing views, some people choose to abstain and some people choose to speak up. My problem is that articles like the one in the Athletic make it into a real distraction.

@nateelgin @MLB They could have done like Treinen and just wore the usual team cap. They instead broke rules, which they were WARNED about-not suspended or anything, and soft af people want to cry about it. They made it about themselves by choosing to do that, and now it's a distraction.

If @MLB had a Christianity night and all players were required to wear crosses, people would lose their minds and want to opt out. Why can't Christians opt out of pride nights?
The Athletic@TheAthletic

Several Giants players wrote Bible verses on their caps to respond to Pride Night. The gesture echoed a familiar pattern: making a night meant for inclusion about something else entirely. Read more for free, from @GrantBrisbee: nyti.ms/3Q23q8J

@ecq023 @BSpilner2f2f @MLB Respectfully, no one’s being persecuted here. Certainly not Christians, and I would argue, neither is the LGBTQ community. Players wrote a Bible verse on their hats, there’s pushback against it, theres pushback against the pushback, and no one is being persecuted.

@nateelgin @BSpilner2f2f @MLB I find it interesting that a religion which was highly persecuted for its beliefs now believes that persecuting others for their own lifestyles is absolutely fine instead of letting them live their own lives they way they want.

@wierdone2345 Why is citing a Bible verse referencing a rainbow in the story of Noah’s ark, hateful? I could at least understand that view if he wrote “Leviticus 18” or “Romans 1”.

@nateelgin It's the timing, and lack of protests over the several other themed nights. It's also a coded message for being anti LGBTQ. We can all play dumb if you want but it's a hateful action towards a specific group of people.

@Evan15278282 @MLB @Reds Technically they are optional. But, the problem is that just like Kershaw, a player who’s acknowledging his beliefs on his hat, is getting ostracized. Why can’t he go under the radar and it be okay?

@nateelgin @MLB @Reds I think a religion is different than LGBTQ, it would be kind of weird to support a religion if you aren't part of it. I think they should do something where they actually change the uniforms, but it should be optional. Pride night uniforms should be optional too.

@richi_mil @MLB It’s not, but the Athletic article makes the Christian out to be a sort of bad guy here. That’s the problem.

@nateelgin @MLB It’s different. I’m Christian but not everyone is a Christian and we should not force our religion onto others. Pride night/month is simply just showing unity to those who are different than us and face scrutiny cuz thyare different. As a Christian why is that so hard to grasp?

@Evan15278282 @MLB @Reds I love that they do that, but that’s all after the game, not in-game on the uniform, with league wide PR support. I don’t think it’s the same. Also, the Reds were my first baseball love! My earliest memory of ball was the 1990 wire-to-wire champs! Born in Hamilton!

Maybe players who cite Gen 9 don’t hate the LGBTQ community. Maybe they are just FOR their faith. The church doesn’t have the best track record. I get that and we ought to own that. But dunking on a Christian for his faith is just as intolerant as many think Gen 9 is.

I think we’ve given ourselves over to anti-virtue, i.e. “I don’t want to be XYZ” so much that we don’t think it’s possible for someone to be FOR something without being ANTI something else. e.g. to be pro-life MUST mean you are anti women. And that comes from all sides.

@DanLee1217 @MLB True, but not on official team gear, social media, and league marketing. Believe it or not, I’m not outraged. I am emotionally unbothered by pride night, the SF players, and will sleep fine. It is possible to disagree without outrage.

@nateelgin @MLB Hold onto your outrage. Players wear crosses around their necks, show off religious tattoos, write bible verses on their shoes/caps/etc. others draw a cross on the field, and kneel and pray before and after games. No one says a word. Christianity is on full display every game!

@nateelgin @MLB People choose to be Christian. You don’t chose to be gay. Christians run the country and have universal power. LGBTQ people are and have always been persecuted by loser fucks like you. It’s not a difficult question - you’re just baiting

@mailstormio @MLB Depends. Emile Durkheim might view categorize it as such. My point is, I believe every human being was designed by God to worship someone. As a Christian, I think that someone is God. But when we don’t worship Him, we still find a deity - ourselves, jobs, approval, teams, etc.

@nateelgin @MLB How does that relate to what I said? Because it SEEMS like you're suggesting they are both a religion, and if that's true, then I would think all the protections granted to religions in this country would apply to both equally.

@BSpilner2f2f @MLB Love doesn’t mean approval. I love my children more than anything, but I don’t approve of all they do. I don’t approve of all my friends do, but I still love them. If love is love, and love means approval, these Christians wouldn’t be getting cooked for religious beliefs.

@nateelgin @MLB One small issue that completely undermines your statement: the players don't have to wear the pride hats. Besides, is Christianity not based on loving your brother as yourself? That should apply to everyone, even if they're gay.

@js_hicks @MLB This is an in-game, almost league-wide, official apparel celebration. You’re telling me that if the Giants had a “Jesus is the Only Way to a the Father” night and integrated a cross into their SF logo, it’s wouldn’t be a big deal? If so, you and I would disagree there.

@nateelgin @MLB Other players just didn't wear the hat. Without the writing, I don't think this is as big a story. As for wearing a cross, if the club gave the players the option to wear a cross, a star of David, a crescent moon, etc., I'm not sure anyone would have any issues with it.
