Sadly, Althorp has lost a much loved and dedicated member of staff. A great countryman, Fiercely loyal and a close friend and colleague to me for over 45 years. Bob passed away very suddenly but peacefully after spending the day with his friends at Althorp. RIP Bobby x #pic2007

@kirtonskeldyke That fresh warm grass smell from the whoosh of air as you put the bag on…. Cable tie in mouth as you gather the end… Tear the edge, put a JAF patch on. Welgar balers on IH956. Can still see,hear and smell it 25 years later! And that was progress from hay bales from a IH440!

The bagged silage was then stacked up and each one tied with a cable tie, we tried other methods and found that cable ties gave a better seal. I don't know if wrapping was about in 1991, it certainly hadn't got to this part of sleepy Lincolnshire!!

Today been around the top of Peterborough to Whittlesey, Ramsey, St Ives, Huntingdon. Not seen a single seed drill. Fen blowing and 19c. No moisture to be found, feels very odd for 2nd week October. What to do,drill it all next week and hope?!
