@AdamRackis Only to add some type information to existing JS projects until they can be converted. I find it much less ergonomic and pleasant.

Has anyone who *doesn't mind using a build step* seriously tried using TS via jsdoc comments? Is it as ergonomic and pleasant as regular TypeScript? I'm genuinely curious.

@JohnCarmack @MattSidor My interviews could probably be more structured, but I’m looking for design sense and problem solving. I try to keep it conversational, figure out what problems they’ve solved and what trade-offs were required, and see how deep they can go into a familiar topic.

I'm conducting hiring interviews for the first time in my career. Does anyone have advice for learning how to become a good interviewer, especially in tech? Can you point me to some good resources? I really want to level up my skills for it.

@danbenjamin On the Amazon Prime Apple TV app, one time it managed to show me an error message about HDCP instead of just spinning. I’ve had luck unplugging/replugging HDMI cables without having to completely restart the Apple TV.

Fixed my garage door opener today. I think I’ll stick with writing software.

@snellingio I haven’t used one of those in years, but it’s definitely a fingertip device, not a rest-in-your-palm device. Switched to a trackpad because of some wrist issues and haven’t looked back. Less precise but better gestures.

I swear I’m only half kidding. How killer would it be to have TS just work, out of the box, with Node. Maybe instead of node app you’d do node app -c everything gets compiled as a first step. If errors, execution fails & errors are displayed, nicely formatted

Since Node’s native esm is still slated for more than a year away, can I suggest the following: Make @jdalton’s esm package the de facto standard. Everyone just use it. It’s great. Node instead spends their time adding built-in support for TypeScript.

@AdamRackis That one bit me a couple of years ago. With the 0 is ISO 8601, and without it tries to parse as a local time. At least that’s my best guess.

@joekarl Luckily to get much better than what I have comes with a price tag much higher than I can justify.
