@GaneshIsHere They’re just mad we passed too many measures that hurt the rich in the city. Making the ballot shorter is just their excuse to justify doing this. Local ballot measures only take up one page, and sometimes half a page in the overall ballot.

@GaneshIsHere No. Right-wing groups raise millions of dollars to pass their measures. They have enough resources to send dozens of mailers & pay canvassers to go door to door. This will only hurt the left, nothing else. The right will continue doing what they’ve always done.

My premium doubled because ACA credits weren’t extended, and Mayor Lurie’s cuts to criminal defense has meant lost income. Because of this, I’ve lost my health insurance. And some well paid YIMBY influencer wants to lecture me on how *I’m the one* hurting working class people??

Our city leaders want to give the rich a massive tax cut during a budget shortfall. Coincidentally, the mayor wants to implement steep cuts to essential services for the poor. Straight out of Trump’s playbook.

I'm happy I missed this, but what a way to go out. Saikat Chakrabarti's campaign doing desperate lies trying to smear his progressive opponent as owned by AIPAC. She is not. Totally made up. And doing this to set fire to everything he professed to care about. Amazing.

So the dead internet theory has come for our elections, eh? Seems like what goes viral on here is increasingly disconnected from how people actually perceive value. Would probably be fine if not for the dead local journalism theory, the dead broadcast news theory, and so on.

@onlyfanons I think it had more to do with the candidate, and everything about the candidacy. He had no connection to the district, or interest in it. He shopped a district and chose one where he had some plausible connection, it's iconic, and most progressive in relative dem terms.

@onlyfanons @neo_antiquarian When it was just him vs Pelosi, I literally reached out to the campaign to try to help. At the time thought he was going to be the most progressive option. Saikat was like “yeah, I definitely want your help. My campaign director is CC’d.” Never heard from them again.

@RealSwoletariat I think I’m allowed to joke about the really bad outcome. I’ve also praised Saikat. This race was not my priority, it was Prop D. Super grateful to Saikat for his help on it. That said, I just can’t believe he lost. I was gearing to vote for him in the general.

Shahid Buttar, seen here performing a bongo rap about the NSA on Russia Today, challenged Pelosi in 2020 & secured 65,000 more votes than Saikat. The man rapping in this video got more votes than Saikat who just spent $10 million on his campaign to replace Pelosi.
