From creating great friendships, casting in front of thousands of French and European call of duty fans, casting Champs 3x, the CWL has been an incredible experience in my life. Forever grateful of those times, and excited to see the future of COD!

@TunedIntoTennis It's just the expectation you have of monaco. The tickets are super affordable. Even for the finals. I was lucky enough to see Monfils Nadal finals many years ago even when we didn't make much. Easily accessible by train and car from so many nearby affordable cities too

» (BFMTV)

🇵🇹 If you're flying to Portugal from outside Europe, NEVER fly directly into Lisbon Fly into a different European airport like Amsterdam or Paris Then take an EU flight with EasyJet/RyanAir to Lisbon, that way you can skip the 3+ hour immigration queue because intra-EU flights don't have immigration checks This has been my workflow the last year or so 👌

Portugal merece melhor.

@bohumilo @Altimor And even if it was, you have to also index that to cost of living, entertainment, restaurants, etc in the US is astonishingly expensive compared to EU. Think concerts, sports games, transportation, hotels etc, feels like most of it is 2/3x

@bohumilo @Altimor 1/ think median is more interesting than average esp. US side, 2/ 2010 data is a bit old, 3/ do we really think disposable income is reflective of the quality of life? That’s quite American :p

French-American here — spent 20 yrs in France, 13 in the US. Let me speak to this. I think the only reason Europoors tolerate their miserable existence is because they tell themselves lies about what the rest of the world is like. They eat gruel in their AC-less social housing while the most awesome party in history is being thrown just next door. If you hang out in France, you'll routinely hear them say things like: "in the US, people die in front of hospitals" (they literally believe this to be the case) or "our social system is the envy of the world." Their image of the US is completely delusional, and they are often shocked to discover that when they visit here. Their Marxist media brainwashed them into thinking America is some Dickensian horror, with Monopoly-style fat capitalists running around with their top hats and monocles, exploiting dirt poor workers. The reality is that: * Social security is (unfortunately) the largest gov expense in the US * Hospitals are by law forbidden to refuse care to people * Americans are so much richer than French people it's not even funny. The *poorest* of our 50 states (Missisipi) has a GDP per capita of $53k, 36%(!) higher than France's $39k. Now, how do Americans perceive the French (and Europeans at large)? Well, the tragic reality is that they really, truly don't think of them. They may cross their minds once a month, at most. Why would they think of that irrelevant backwater of a continent? The few times they do come to mind, it is, at best, as a quaint vacation spot. A nice place to sip espresso and spend their American dollars — which go such a long way in these third world countries! The closest comparison is how Europeans think of Thailand or Cambodia. That's at best. At worst, they think they're a lazy, entitled, smug, snobbish, rude people with a bright future behind them, who confuse regulation for progress, don't realize their economies were left in the dust a very long time ago, simply stopped innovating because they've lost the will, ability, or both, and who would rather brag about their 60%(!!) public spending to GDP ratio than fix their communist shit hole of a system. Nice wine though.
TheFrenchie@ML3democrats

Do you have any idea of the image we have of the United States in France? Would you like me to tell you? It's worse than you think.

@Hope_Eterna @Altimor Well I’ve lived in a southern state, and in France (on a median salary), so I would like to think I know a bit ;-)

@robsaker @Altimor The median gross salary for France does not take into account the employer tax portion, which is really large, and ultimately reflective of some of the value back provided by the gov, so it’s a bit misleading too

@oxygenJCF @Altimor His example of a comparable state was a southern state. And if you are going to that level of comparison, let us be consistent and compare rural France (not Paris) with those US states. France is a great museum.

@Altimor Personally, I think that if you are “high earner”, the US is much better (which I’m going to guess is your case), but I don’t think that’s the case for the low income classes. Every metric shows that the gap between rich and poor is much bigger here than EU

@Altimor I’m French, been in America I nearly 10 years. Kids are US born. I think your points conflate a lot of different things. Median salary in a southern state is likely a much worse life than median French salary since you get no gov support, for example.
