@popularknapsack It’s really important to not center achievement or proficiency as the goal. I’m a bit better with that in visual art but it’s harder when I’m trying *new* things. I’ll give it another go 😌

@paxtank i am the same with that, that is why i think it is important for me to have the means of improving be the thing i enjoy doing rather than feeling like a prerequisite

@popularknapsack @NerdPuncher I’d think at least a part of you carries that memory, tucked away somewhere. Maybe not, but that’s serious trauma at least in a medical sense.

@popularknapsack @NerdPuncher I genuinely need this. I just struggle with self-motivating in the early stages. Once I’m into something I’m sailing. The band Animals as Leaders is what made me break down and buy a guitar in case you’re curious.

@paxtank @NerdPuncher i have found that the trick is to find a way to enjoy the practice itself, i find it quite meditative, at this point i feel almost more interested in practicing than being good at guitar

@popularknapsack @NerdPuncher I have one good scar. I was a cheerleader in 3rd grade (also 1st grade but that’s irrelevant) and we did a bake sale at Walmart. I tripped and fell on one of those metal rollback signs and completely opened up the back of my thigh. Everyone was screaming before I felt anything.

@popularknapsack @NerdPuncher I don’t have any excuses other than broke brain syndrome. I bought a guitar all excited and did one online lesson and then forgot to do more. Maybe I will now because I should be more grateful for my fingertips. Thank you

@paxtank @NerdPuncher it doesn't really effect me because i am right handed, but it does mean that i have to play guitar left handed because i can't fret with my left hand

@popularknapsack I think the first/left pair suits you better & will work with any outfit. If you’re choosing a new primary pair, those are a fantastic choice. The right pair feels more intense, which isn’t bad, but could get old quick.
