It's published! The energy model of insulin resistance: A unifying theory linking seed oils to metabolic disease and cancer Here’s the link to the full text. Let’s make this the most downloaded paper on their website!! Here’s my summary: The paper proposes that seed oils, by causing oxidative stress, force cells to change their fueling strategy. The result of that is metabolic disease and cancer. It works like this: Oxidative stress suffocates cells. It puts them into a kind of survival mode, and activates genes for bringing sugar into the cell. That's called aerobic glycolysis, which is now understood to be the main mechanism driving cancer! At the whole-person level, many cells stealing sugar from the bloodstream all at once lower our blood sugar. That causes hypoglycemia, and then you get a flood of stress hormones. This is immediately practical. Wonder why you feel hangry? That's why. And yes it means you have insulin resistance. Cancer and insulin resistance share the same root cause. So if you get hangry, you are at higher risk of cancer. This paper explains why insulin resistance and cancer are rampant among youth. They were tragically born and raised on more processed foods than any previous generation. Seed oils are the worst ingredient in processed foods. I tried to make the theory airtight. But I appreciate anyone who wants to poke holes. Writing this paper consumed many hours over the past few months. Keeping me away from terribly important things, like posting on X. X should re-name the "search" tab to "Xplore" and change retweet icon to an Xplode icon with appropriate directional arrows, for better branding. Thoughts... @elonmusk?

New study on the ketogenic diet and mental health: Key findings: --Improved mental health: Ketone levels were correlated with improvements in mood, energy, impulsivity, and anxiety, adding to the growing evidence that this dietary approach could be a promising non-medication treatment for bipolar disorder. --Reversal of metabolic dysfunction: Brain imaging indicated improvements in the heightened brain metabolism and increased excitatory activity implicated in bipolar disorder, as measured by decreased glutamate and glutamine levels (11.6-13.6%). --Participants experienced an average 5.2% reduction in body weight, along with improvements in BMI and blood pressure. This suggests that the diet could serve as a dual-purpose intervention, addressing both mental health symptoms and the metabolic risks linked to bipolar disorder. drive.google.com/file/d/17SngcR… Press release: drive.google.com/file/d/1i1299i…

So I criticize the studies @bryan_johnson used to support his decision to not eat meat and then a community note appears? I interviewed professor at UC Davis and Air Quality Expert ( @GHGGuru ) about cattle’s impact on the environment 4 years ago. The note erroneously claims Mitloehner is a “lobbyist” and then says I need to disclose “who wrote the script?” I wrote the script. 🤦‍♂️ It also tries to paint me as Industry-funded based on literally nothing other than a speculative reddit /r/vegan post 🤦‍♂️

Reporting (belatedly!) on this fantastic pilot trial out of @stanford using a ketogenic diet for mental health. Dramatic improvements for schizophrenia & bipolar disorder. And: Healthy brain, Healthy body! Improvements also seen in weight loss, blood pressure, heart-disease risk factors, sleep, energy, mood, insulin resistance and more @ShebaniMD is a true pioneer. @metabolicmind #metabolichealth #metabolicpsychiatry

@mhp_guy Taking a ten year view your analysis doesn't reflect the upside. Simulator golf has doubled rounds played in South Korea over the first ten years there, from 2.5 m to 5m. Longer term there will be higher prizes paid out in SG than the PGA as amateurs around the world play.

I was hyped on the golf simulator business model, but after interviewing an owner I've cooled off. Here's his story & financials: - $170k revenue in the first year - A whopping $350k in startup costs to set up the 4 bays - Year 1 profit will be $60k - Gets most business from FB and IG. A huge Black Friday deal brought a ton of customers in the door. - Their unexpectedly profitable revenue line is club fittings. They take a 20% cut which is around $500. - Not a ton of work required once memberships are in place, but it takes a ton of effort to acquire customers - You don't wanna spend too much cash on chipping and putting areas. They come for the simulators. - Keep an employee there during the day and a key card at night. - They've had a few broken TVs from golf clubs. Some drunken antics, etc. I think hosting weekly tournaments and family nights could bring more bodies in the door. Also happy hours, closest to pin prizes, etc. All in all I feel like there are better opportunities out there for that much upfront cost. Am I wrong? Follow me @mhp_guy to watch me peel back the small biz curtain.
