🧵 Google Quantum AI’s new paper is a reminder that the quantum threat to blockchain is no longer a niche discussion. It is becoming a serious infrastructure question. And this is exactly why @AlgoFoundation deserves attention here. In @Google Quantum AI’s new whitepaper on quantum threats to cryptocurrencies, Algorand receives unusually strong coverage outside of Bitcoin and Ethereum, especially around post-quantum signatures, state proofs, key rotation, and smart contracts. That matters because Algorand is not just talking about post-quantum readiness in theory. It has already been implementing it. One of the most important milestones came on November 3, 2025, when Algorand executed the first live mainnet transaction using NIST-selected Falcon signatures. Falcon is a lattice-based post-quantum signature scheme selected by NIST, and it is especially relevant because its compact signatures and fast verification make it much more practical for high-performance blockchain environments than many people realize. Algorand’s post-quantum story also goes beyond a single transaction. Its State Proofs already use Falcon signatures, giving the network a post-quantum-secure way to attest to ledger history every 256 rounds. That is important because quantum readiness is not only about protecting future user transactions. It is also about protecting the integrity of blockchain history itself. This is where Algorand stands out. While much of the market still treats quantum risk as a distant problem, Algorand has been building real technical answers into live blockchain infrastructure. That does not mean the entire industry challenge is solved. But it does mean Algorand is further along than many people may realize. And that is why Google Quantum AI highlighting these areas matters. Because when one of the world’s most serious quantum research groups discusses blockchain risk, and Algorand shows up repeatedly as a live post-quantum example, that is not random noise. It is a signal. The broader market may still underestimate how relevant this becomes over time. But if the next era of blockchain security is shaped by post-quantum resilience, then Algorand has already positioned itself as one of the chains worth watching most closely.
