Our driver in Ayodhya took us first to the place where SriRam had Jal samadhi. I was wondering why start the darshan like this? Shouldn't we see Ram Lalla first, or Nandigram or Hanuman garhi? The good hearted driver told us that Gupthar Ghat is where SriRam entered the Sarayu at the end of His avatar and took on the form of Narayana. Hence, the place is more important than Janmabhoomi! We have so much to learn from these simple folk. #Ayodhya

It is time Maharashtra must scrap the draconian “2-child norm” in local elections. What is two child norm: In Maharashtra it is a specific disqualification rule that prevents individuals with more than two children from contesting or holding office in local/rural body elections. While states like Chhattisgarh, Haryana, MP, Telangana and Andhra Pradesh have repealed it recently after seeing the social damage the law has done, Meanwhile Maharashtra government (since 2003) still punishes its own people for no reason with this 2 child norm, It’s hypocritical, this law only targets the rural poor at the local level, while MLAs and MPs face no such restrictions. With a declining Marathi TFR and rising immigration from states that never had such laws, we are effectively disempowering our own people and reducing our own Marathi “TFR”. Time to end this double standard.

Vikram Samvat is Nepal's official calendar and Shaka Smvat India's official one. However Nepalis actually follow their calendar, all their official work , school-colleges work on Vikram Samvat. India should do the same.
