This is a disgrace. A Gulf War Marine veteran named Albert O’Toole who served this country, took a blast that left him with TBI, and was later diagnosed with Alzheimer’s was beaten by his aide Matthew Cox inside the New York State Veterans Home in Montrose, New York. His wife Angela Sangro became concerned after seeing unexplained bruises and heavy sedation. She installed a hidden camera. The footage shows the aide yanking food out of Albert’s hands, grabbing him by the neck, throwing him into a chair, punching him, and striking him in the head with a broom while he cried out in pain. No one came to help. The state fired the abuser. But the federal VA? Still has him employed. Still paying him while the case drags on. You make veterans fight through hell just to get the benefits and compensation they earned with their blood and sacrifice. You move fast to cut or reduce what’s owed to them. But when one of your own is caught on camera assaulting a defenseless veteran? You keep him on the federal payroll like it’s nothing. @SecVetAffairs you talk about accountability. Here it is. Fire this man from the VA now. No pay. No protection. No more dragging it out. @SecWar our warriors come home broken from fighting for this nation. They deserve better than a system that protects abusers while making veterans fight for every dollar they earned. @SpeakerJohnson this is on you too. Oversight without teeth is just theater. Do your job. This isn’t how you treat the men and women who served. This is a betrayal. Veterans FIRST. Zero tolerance for those who abuse them. Immediate action. No excuses. If you’re not outraged by this, you’re not paying attention. Semper Fi. @TheTankGuns

Echoes of War@EchoesofWarYT

Born this day in 1925 in a Texas sharecropper's shack, one of twelve kids. His dad walked out, his mom died young, and Audie Murphy quit school in fifth grade to pick cotton and hunt rabbits to feed his brothers and sisters. He got deadly accurate with a rifle for one reason: the family couldn't afford a wasted bullet. After Pearl Harbor he tried to enlist and got laughed off. The Marines rejected him. The Navy rejected him. The paratroopers rejected him. He was 5'5" and barely 110 pounds, and they all said he was too small to fight. His sister had to fudge his paperwork just to get the Army to take a 17 year old. Then he went to war and became something out of a legend. January 26, 1945, near Holtzwihr, France. His company was down to a handful of men facing six tanks and 250 German infantry. Murphy sent his men back, then climbed onto a burning American tank destroyer that could have exploded under him at any second, grabbed the .50 caliber machine gun, and held off the entire assault alone for nearly an hour. He was wounded in the leg and kept firing. When a buddy asked over the field phone how close the Germans were, he reportedly said hold on and let me ask them. He came home the most decorated American soldier of the entire war. Every valor award the Army could give, some of them more than once, plus French and Belgian honors on top. Life magazine put his baby face on the cover, James Cagney saw it and invited him to Hollywood, and the cotton picker who couldn't pass a physical became a movie star. He made over 40 films. In 1955 he played himself in To Hell and Back, the movie of his own memoir, and it was Universal's biggest hit until Jaws came along twenty years later. But the war never let go. He had what we now call PTSD, slept with a loaded pistol under his pillow, and got hooked on sleeping pills trying to outrun the nightmares. He kicked the addiction by locking himself alone in a motel room for a week. Then he did something almost no famous man did back then: he went public, told the country that combat had wrecked his nerves, and pushed the government to study and treat what war does to a soldier's mind. He died in a plane crash in 1971 at just 45 years old. They buried him at Arlington, where his simple headstone is the most visited grave in the cemetery after John F. Kennedy's. Every branch told him he was too small to fight. He outfought all of them, then spent the rest of his life trying to help the men who came home broken like he did.

President Trump today appeared to violate Clause 1 of the memorandum of understanding he signed with Iran at Versailles last week, which commits both sides to “refrain from the threat or use of force against each other.” In a Fox News interview, he threatened to “take over the rest of the country” of Iran, warned Iran it “won’t have a country” if it closes the Strait of Hormuz, and said Iranian officials “won’t even make it back to your effing country” if they closed the strait. The Strait of Hormuz nevertheless remains closed for a second day.

Trump threatens to occupy Iran: "President Trump tells Fox News he spoke with Iranian officials overnight and said, 'You close the strait and you won't have a country.' He went on to tell these officials, 'You won't even make it back to your f**king country ... we'll take over the rest of the country.'"

President Trump simply does not know how to exit this war he started. Statements like this reveals something close to schizophrenia. After he just spent considerable effort over 48 hours trying to put Netanyahu in a box and telling him to stop attacking in Lebanon, now he threatens the same thing to Tehran, except it goes further and claims he will attack Iran directly again if they don’t stop HZ. The truth is, Trump can no longer threaten Israel, and it can no longer threaten Iran. I continue to maintain the only plausible exit for President Trump is merely to claim victory and walk away. The chances of him getting a negotiated deal to where Israel, Iran, and Hezbollah all agree to stop fighting for the benefit of President Trump, is a near impossible task. Therefore, if President Trump wants the war to continue, all he has to do is keep up with these meaningless threats — and remain unwilling to walk away — and that’s what we’ll all get. Meanwhile, important to point out, the Strait of Hormuz remains, closed…

Ambassador Huckabee should resign, if he has any dignity, and if he does not have honor, be fired today by President Trump. President Trump has signed an MOU with Iran to bring that war to an end, and point number one is that the war in Lebanon has to first come to an end. The American president has gone to great lengths to put pressure on the Israeli Prime Minister to stop his war against HZ in Lebanon, so that the terms of the MOU can be accomplished and the war ended. And yet here is the alleged American ambassador to Israel, directly undermining that effort, by siding with the Israeli Prime Minister against the American president. That is reprehensible, and the exact opposite of what an Ambassador is supposed to do. He should, therefore, be fired.
Ambassador Mike Huckabee@GovMikeHuckabee

The US designates Hezbollah as a terror organization. They are a malignant cancer & have killed hundreds of Americans. They are common enemy of Lebanon & Israel. They occupy civilian homes in Lebanon to store weapons & fire drones & rockets into civilian targets in Israel. Evil.

Following the Iranian announcement of the closure of the Strait of Hormuz, Iranian Foreign Ministry Spokesperson Esmail Baghaei told Iran’s state-backed news outlet IRNA that an Iranian delegation is indeed traveling to Switzerland. Per the report, the delegation is traveling to Switzerland with the hopes of impressing on their U.S. counterparts the need to fulfill what Iran says are their agreed upon commitments, as it relates to the MOU.

"Balls 8" was the oldest B-52 in service when it was retired in 2004. Tail number 52-008, it was originally an RB-52B that was first flown on 11 June 1955. It was modified to be able to carry the X-15. The right wing was reinforced and fitted with a pylon that could carry the heaviest payloads ever launched from an airplane's wing: more than 50,000 lbs
