President Biden’s decision to pardon his son was wrong. A president's family and allies shouldn't get special treatment. This was an improper use of power, it erodes trust in our government, and it emboldens others to bend justice to suit their interests.

The 1918 flu wiped out 90% of adults in Brevig Mission, Alaska. 🧵 It carried a key mutation: PB2 E627K. Now, H5N1 is showing signs of similar adaptation. The strain detected in a Canadian teenager also carries PB2 E627K. 1/

@ChrisMurphyCT It’s this nonsense that you’re peddling that is the reason Dems can’t win. Using my tax dollars to improve my life isn’t a handout. It’s the only thing tax dollars should be used for.

The child tax credit, increased ACA subsidies, and student loan forgiveness helped people. All good policy. But it didn't move people emotionally to our side. Why? Maybe because most people don't want a handout. They want the rules unrigged so they can succeed on their own.

As we continue to try to get the full truth out about what’s happening in this country, I encourage you to watch @cspan. On yesterday a colleague had a bill in markup entitled “dismantle DEI.” In explaining why the bill was needed, multiple white R men argued that they are being “oppressed.” I didn’t bring race into anything… THEY DID & always do & then they twist history & dilute the definition of words.

The idea of a president soliciting a foreign country to help in his reelection was such a massive abuse of presidential power that it convinced America's founders we needed a way to remove such a president from office. Just some fun trivia. 3/3

Franklin said, Imagine a president asked a foreign country to give him assistance in his effort to be reelected. That president would then be beholden to a foreign power. That did it. True story. 2/3

Omg do yall not know what the word adjacent means?! I'm not saying everything women do is sex work, but a lot of it is similar. Anyways I took this class at NYU called Deviance and Social Control and it explored how society is not consistent in it's labeling of deviant behavior

So much of this is an attack on expertise, on the idea that there are actual experts who know more than a reality tv host. Because once you succeed in denigrating experts, you have no one to question you who has any, well, expertise.

On this day in 1960, a six-year-old Ruby Bridges became the first Black student to attend William Frantz Elementary School, an all-white school in Louisiana. A mob protested her. This is not ancient history. Ruby Bridges is 70 now.
