Dear Fellow South African,   Last week, surgeons at Mankweng Hospital in Limpopo completed a remarkable operation. A team of doctors, nurses and other health workers successfully separated conjoined twins in a complex operation that demanded extraordinary skill and precision. 🔗 shorturl.at/93yJp

ANC SECRETARY GENERAL | Fikile Mbalula
[WATCH] The next local government elections are around the corner. Our approach to the 2026 local government elections requires of us to be agile and responsive to the needs and aspirations of our people. The dire state of our municipalities, the dismal service delivery track record, rampant corruption, social distance and lack of responsiveness to the daily struggles of our communities are some of the challenges we have to tackle in a decisive manner if we are to regain the trust of our people. As we hit the ground running in preparation for the 2026 local government elections, we must be alive to the reality that the only way to deal with the trust deficit with the electorate is decisive action to deliver tangible outcomes that move the needle towards making a better life for all a lived reality. #YearOfDecisiveAction

SAFTU CONDEMS THE VANDALISATION OF THE GRAVE OF ROBERT SOBUKWE The South African Federation of Trade Unions (SAFTU) expresses its strongest condemnation of the shameful and cowardly vandalisation of the grave of Robert Mangaliso Sobukwe. This act is not merely criminal damage to a gravesite; it is a direct assault on the memory of one of the most principled and uncompromising leaders in the struggle against apartheid and colonial oppression. Sobukwe represents the highest traditions of resistance, intellectual clarity, and sacrifice for the liberation of the African people. To desecrate his resting place is to attack the very history of our struggle and the dignity of our people. Sobukwe’s legacy is rooted in his unwavering commitment to justice, equality, and true liberation. He paid a heavy personal price for his convictions, including years of imprisonment and isolation under apartheid’s brutal system. His ideas continue to inspire generations of activists, workers, and youth who remain committed to completing the unfinished task of economic and social emancipation. SAFTU rejects, without hesitation, all forms of historical revisionism, racism, and reactionary conduct that seek to undermine the heroes of our liberation struggle. Acts such as these are often not isolated; they reflect deeper currents of intolerance and a refusal to accept the full humanity and historical contribution of black South Africans. We therefore call on:1. Law enforcement agencies to urgently investigate this act and bring those responsible to justice.2. Communities and progressive formations to defend and protect sites of historical memory.3. All South Africans to unite in rejecting hatred and defending the legacy of our liberation heroes. The working class understands that the struggle for dignity does not end with political freedom. It includes defending our history, our heroes, and the truth of our collective journey. We will not allow the memory of Sobukwe to be desecrated, distorted, or erased. A statement was issued on behalf of SAFTU by the General Secretary, Zwelinzima. Vavi. For media inquiries, contact the National Spokesperson at Newton Masuku newtonm@saftu.org.za 0661682157 Media Officer Asive Dyani 0719019564
