Fellow Massachusetts resident here. Posts like Sen. Markey's reveal a breathtaking ignorance of actual safety data — the kind of willful blindness that gets people killed. FSD doesn't just perform well in statistics. It saved my life. On the highway, it reacted to an aggressive driver I never saw coming — couldn't have seen coming — and avoided what could have been a fatal collision. No senator's press release would have saved me. The technology did. Let's be honest: does anyone really think Ed Markey wrote that post himself? This has the fingerprints of staffers and lobbyist-fed talking points all over it — the same way autopen signatures directed federal policy for four years under Biden while the country pretended not to notice. Agendas don't require authors anymore. And speaking of agendas — it's embarrassing. Every statewide office in Massachusetts. Every federal seat. City halls wall to wall. One party, unchecked, creeping further into the daily lives of residents who just want to drive their cars, run their businesses, and raise their families without a bureaucrat second-guessing every decision. Our ancestors dumped tea in Boston Harbor over less. The overreach that sparked a revolution is alive and well — it just wears a suit and sends tweets now.

Tesla wants Americans to believe its so-called Full Self-Driving technology is safer than human drivers. Then it should prove it. @SenBlumenthal and I are calling on NHTSA to demand the data, test Tesla’s claims, and strengthen AV safety data reporting.

@grok, what was the general opinion from the interview between Jack Ma and Elon Musk in terms of their ability to marshal resources and build successful business? Give a description of their ability to combine their business savvy, leadership qualities, and intelligence to create new value for the world. Regardless of the government system each operated in. In addition, do a comparison in table format. One column named: "Elon Musk". The second column named "Jack Ma" in each row list: leadership innovation intelligence business intelligence financial intelligence creativity use a scale between 1 to 10. Where to is highest and 1 is lowest Add any other value I am missing in order to fully compare Jack Ma to Elon Musk. Write as much as you can to accurately answer this ask. Do not shorten reply to appease people's attention span.

Ken Cao-The China Crash Chronicle
Ten years ago, Elon Musk and Jack Ma both looked like avatars of the future. Musk was building electric cars, rockets, satellites, and AI. Jack Ma was building Alibaba, the crown jewel of China’s internet economy. Fast forward a decade: Musk is worth $1.1 trillion. Jack Ma was forced into silence, Ant Group’s IPO was crushed, Alibaba lost its aura(its stock plunged by more than 60% since 2020), and China’s tech sector went from world-beating to politically domesticated. One entrepreneur was allowed to compound. The other was reminded who really owns the scoreboard. This is not just a story about two billionaires. It is a story about two systems. One system lets madmen build rockets to Mars. The other cuts down its most successful entrepreneur for flying too close to the sun. That is why Musk became the world’s first trillionaire. And Jack Ma became a warning label.

@jvbonaiii @JohnTinsman Ok. I can only speculate that the awarding of shares as directed by SpaceX might have been tied to Tesla stock owners. But that is only speculation and I don’t know.

@grok what is Richard doing these days? Is he still working at Arianspace? Has Richard commented on SpaceX at all within the last five years and if so, what has he said This clip was from 2013. 13 years ago so it’s hard to look at space X at that point and know what the future is be. But still, it’s endemic that people hold back from trying the impossible and failing. Because in failure, you learn.

So I ended up getting more SpaceX IPO allocation in my small “play” account at E-Trade than I did in my main account at Schwab. I had asked for $100K shares (739) at E-Trade, got 211 (29%). I had asked for $1M shares (7400) at Schwab, got 74 (10%). Seems that I should have flipped the asks!

Well, Schwab did listen to ISS in Glass Lewis to vote against musk pay package. Schwab clearly doesn’t support retail invest investors. So it makes sense they might not have been allotted a lot of SpaceX shares and existing customers suffered. I’m thankful I moved away from Schwab years ago because of their vote against musk.

This is WILD! The most important story coming out of the SpaceX IPO this morning is not the $1.77 trillion valuation but it is about Juan Hernandez (Save this). Juan is a welder who got a phone call from a friend about a job at a company he had never heard of. He said yes anyway, showed up, worked there for ten years, rose from the factory floor to supervisor, and held on to 6,500 shares the entire time. When CBS asked him this morning how much he stands to make at opening, he said approximately $880,000. Tom Mueller, Musk's very first SpaceX employee, tells a version of the same story. He met Musk through an amateur rocket club, was convinced to do something exciting, and says it was one of the best decisions he ever made. In those early days, he says, the team simply believed they were going to change the world and then went ahead and did it. Juan and Tom are not alone. SpaceX has approximately 13,000 employees who hold equity and analysts estimate today's IPO will create somewhere between 600 and 1,000 instant millionaires across the workforce from engineers and software developers to machinists, welders, and operations staff. The engineers and executives at the top of the stack are looking at life changing numbers of a different order entirely. Senior vice presidents and long tenured rocket engineers with large equity grants are expected to walk away with $10 million to $50 million or more depending on their vesting history. Gwynne Shotwell, SpaceX's President and COO who has been building this company alongside Musk for over two decades, is expected to become a billionaire on her equity stake alone. All of that wealth from Juan's $880,000 to Musk's trillion came from the same source. A group of people who believed that if nobody built a truly reusable rocket, humanity would never leave Earth, and decided that was an unacceptable outcome. Thank you, @elonmusk for building a company where a welder who didn't know your name in 2016 is worth nearly a million dollars this morning.
