The US has 25% fewer air traffic controllers than 1981. It manages 3x the traffic. 77% of major facilities are below safety staffing targets. The gap is absorbed entirely by mandatory overtime. Overtime has a fatigue ceiling. The system has no structural reserve left. 🧵👇

Mientras las aerolíneas anuncian importantes incrementos de operaciones en el aeropuerto de #Sevilla con motivo de la Semana Santa, Feria de Abril y la Final de la Copa del Rey de Fútbol, la empresa privada que gestiona el control aéreo del aeropuerto reduce efectivos de 16 a 10 controladores. Tras la negativa a negociar por parte de Saerco y la permisividad de Aena, no nos queda otra solución que acudir a la convocatoria de huelga. Cabe recordar que ya, en alguna ocasión, se ha tenido que activar el plan de contingencia por falta de personal. La gestión de Saerco vulnera los descansos mínimos que marca la directiva europea sobre tiempos de trabajo. Teniendo en cuenta los efectos directos de la fatiga y la falta estructural de recursos humanos en la seguridad de las operaciones, esperamos que se produzca algún tipo de mediación que aporte soluciones concretas y que evite las posibles disrupciones en el aeropuerto de Sevilla. cope.es/programas/tiem…
