You are right about this. The rub comes at some point years in to a new platform when the desire to continue exponential growth means that it has to accelerate rage and disinfo. My hope for Mastodon is that it gets fun and helpful, and then is happy with that.

@robinberjon How would that even work? Hard to imagine. I think I'll probably need to do what I did in that post and just screencap and then post the link. (I posted that just a couple of weeks ago, and I'm already cringing that I embedded TikToks.)

@jessesheidlower You may want to pin this tweet. I've seen a few tools pop up that make it easy to migrate to Mastodon from here if your username there is in your profile or your pinned tweet.

I'm not sure I've publicly said that I'm at @jessesheidlower@mastodon.social (but haven't been participating there yet). While I do not actually tweet all that much, or very well tbh, this site has nonetheless been extremely important to me, and I am v sad with what's happening.

I just listened to Elon Musk on a Twitter Space that was intended for advertising partners. This is what he said at the outset. It's hard to come to any other conclusion that he has little understanding of human communication, or indeed behavior on the platform he owns.

Not leaving, just thinking. On #Mastodon, assuming one has no interest whatsoever in joining via any kind of affinity group or digital version of a food coop, is there consensus about the best server(s) to join—i.e. proven to be a reliable invisible utility and apt to endure?
