@DowdEdward I think it’s just a weak positive. We got some of those during Covid. One turned out to be an early positive, a few others were false positives
English

Mildly positive? What is this nonsense?
Doctor: “Mr. Oncebittentwiceshy, you have tested mildly positive for HIV.”
Mr. Oncebittentwiceshy: “Go f-ck yourself Doctor!”

JUST IN: 🇺🇸 One US citizen tests "mildly positive" for hantavirus.
English

@InnocenceInv @Plinz Name calling aside- this is very different. Unlike Covid, where people were winning Olympic medals while testing positive, this virus has a 30-40% fatality rate, so people have a strong incentive to notify authorities at the first sign of symptoms and to protect family members.
English

@zeynep This is a stretch. They have been putting out info and telling the public not to worry is part of their job. They are trying to avoid mandatory quarantines. Doesn’t seem paternalistic to any sane person
English

@Prunkundshiva Because at that point, no one knew what killed him.
English

@billiewebbb I agree with the skepticism but the people were not diagnosed on the ship. The first guy that died was only diagnosed because of his wife who died at a hospital
English

a 147 passenger cruise ship somehow had the advanced diagnostics to identify a virus with only ~3,000 cases ever recorded.
THE FORESIGHT 👏👏👏 simply amazing. they must have had every test imaginable onboard.
the medical world impresses me more and more with each day that pas
Nah, fuck right off lol

@JupiterKunt @colorfuzion_web @HHSGov @CDCgov @ASPRgov @StateDept The advice has long been NOT to test people without symptoms because of the risk of false positives. In this case they did and now they aren’t sure if the result is meaningful. Another test in a few days should resolve.
English

@colorfuzion_web @HHSGov @CDCgov @ASPRgov @StateDept That’s how you know this is being spun for propaganda.
They’re making a narrative that it’s not a big deal even when people are testing positive for a rare and very deadly virus.
“Mildly positive” what a shameful statement.
English

HHS through @ASPRgov and @CDCgov is supporting @StateDept in the repatriation of 17 American citizens from the MV Hondius cruise ship affected by the Andes variant of hantavirus.
All 17 are currently en route via @StateDept airlift to the United States, with two of the passengers travelling in the plane's biocontainment units out of an abundance of caution. One passenger currently has mild symptoms and another passenger tested mildly PCR positive for the Andes virus.
As of now, the airlift will transport passengers to the ASPR Regional Emerging Special Pathogen Treatment Center (RESPTC) at the University of Nebraska Medical Center/Nebraska Medicine in Omaha, Nebraska before taking the passenger with mild symptoms to a second RESPTC at its final destination.
Upon arrival at each facility, each individual will undergo clinical assessment and receive appropriate care and support based on their condition.
English

@colorfuzion_web @HHSGov @CDCgov @ASPRgov @StateDept You can get a very weak positive. It’s usually means it’s a false positive or it’s an early positive. If they test again in a few days it may become more pronounced or disappear altogether
English

@HHSGov @CDCgov @ASPRgov @StateDept One can not test “mildly positive” it is simply positive or negative 🤦
English

@AbraarKaran @AP Or a false positive, which is why they say not to test people without symptoms.
English

Testing positive without symptoms brings up a number of questions
Is this an asymptomatic case or someone that hasn’t developed symptoms yet but is already shedding virus and this was picked up because of daily testing
And what does this mean for the possibility of transmission without symptoms - pre or asymptomatic transmission
#Hantavirus
English

BREAKING: One of the 17 American passengers evacuated from a cruise ship in the Canary Islands has tested positive for the hantavirus but is not showing any symptoms, U.S. health officials said. apnews.com/article/hantav…

@_nomadic_soul Weird- being pregnant 10 times convinced me that no one should murder a baby.

Being pregnant convinced me no one should be forced to gestate.

English

@InnocenceInv @Plinz No, they will all go
to the National quarantine facility for further evaluation. Then it will be determined if they need/ want to stay and if they can quarantine at home safely.
English

@InnocenceInv @Plinz They are all going to the bio containment unit in Nebraska. Some may be allowed to leave and isolate at home “If safety protocols allow it”. They will be driven there by officials and monitored daily.
English

@InnocenceInv @Plinz Hmmm, tell me where exactly are they going in Nebraska??
English

In honor of Mother’s Day, a reminder that not all women CAN or WANT to have babies.
Peak feminism is understanding a woman’s worth isn’t tied to childbirth.
Peak feminism is respecting women whether they raise kids, careers, dogs, or hell.
Peak feminism is supporting mothers without acting like motherhood is mandatory.
The most radical thing a woman can do is choose happiness over expectations.

In honor of Mother’s Day, a reminder that peak feminism is having babies. The most radical thing a woman can do is embrace her biological destiny.
English

@InnocenceInv @Plinz It is not clear what quarantine protocol will be required, supposedly CDC staff is meeting with each passenger today to assess risk and make recommendations
English

@InnocenceInv @Plinz The OP literally said they were on commercial flights which would mean they were also in airports. That is not happening. They are on a CDC plane with CDC staff and every precaution taken, being flown to a bio containment facility in NE.
English

@_Leila At any rate, she was not seeking an abortion- I think it was just egregious incompetence
English

@_Leila She went to the hospital after some bleeding and they verified the baby was okay by checking heartbeat and sent her home for some reason. I’m not sure why she would not have been admitted for monitoring at that point.
