The Bishop of Ebbsfleet should resign. It is not remotely serious for him to attend a conference actively seeking to undermine the diocesan bishop of whom he is a suffragan. If he respected the dignity of his office, he would immediately step down.

For the avoidance of doubt, if you are wanting a service of blessing for your marriage to someone of the same sex or gender, I will be delighted to offer it to you. To do so is entirely consistent with canon law, and does not need to be part of a regularly scheduled service.

@SteveChalke God is holy, righteous & true. Ignoring the Scriptures & pretending that it doesn't matter is none of these things - and it most certainly isn't loving.

God is love. Love is not part of God’s character, love is God’s essential being. So any Church doctrine which does not rhyme with love is a crock! It’s time for the whole Church to recognise that love demands the inclusion & celebration of LGBT+ people just as it does all others!

@TruthTeller_832 @charliebelllive This isn't bullying. It's a realistic picture of the inevitable if the Bishops choose to pretend that Church doctrine is not at stake. As defenders of the faith they swore to protect the Gospel & its doctrine. If their consciences are fluid on this issue the law certainly isn't.

Today's surprising decisions from the House of Bishops on LLF underline how very, very poor this process has been for several years. The legal advice, concerning both 'bespoke services' and clergy in same-sex marriages, could and should have been articulated clearly years ago.

@AshFarms Well done on getting your Bible. The NLT is a good translation. Try to read it with an easy commentary alongside and remember that however difficult the OT may seem to be, it gives so much clarity, depth & richness to what comes in the NT. Take it easy, prayerfully & enjoy.

If you've been following, you know about my quest to learn about Jesus. We realized we didn't have a Bible and today it arrived. Thankfully, it did not spontaneously combust when I touched it - so we've got that going for us. Where should we start? I think we are going to read a section every evening, we get up at 4:45 and the morning is already rushed. I know the Jesus part is in the second half, but it's going to take a long time to read the whole book. So what is a good starting point? Thank you all for all of the support. It's weird talking about real life on here and not just being completely obnoxious (love you, my boomers). I'm finding a way to still be me and explore this without guilt and shame. Thanks to those of you who have supported that.
