In 2017, New Age writer Deepak Chopra emailed the paedophile Epstein: ‘God is a construct Cute girls are real’ My feature from a couple of years ago, in which I write that Chopra’s big idea of the ‘True Self’ is a tool for manipulation and marketing. flaneurnotes.com/post/on-not-ha…

@MadsDavies A French Catholic bishop recently invited me and a Lutheran minister to a licensing. He told the packed service how strongly he valued our traditions, and asked us to pray for his new priest. He never once screamed in our faces that we were heretics with invalid orders 😆

The Very Online Catholic men have entered my chat on here post the enthronement. The 🤢 emoji etc It’s all a bit silly & unserious and a world away from the Catholics among my friends and family.

Great to hear Radio 4's Moral Maze highlight Nelson St Church, Rochdale, as a vibrant, growing church that impacts its community. A privilege to have helped create this new church in a former Chinese restaurant. I love the way its angel mural watches over the heart of the town.

It’s not why they did it, but THAT they did it. All the English ppl I’ve talked to about it in Oxford this week are furious. “No Churchill, but badgers?!?!” is the basic stance. Feels to them like cultural erasure, whatever the reason. They’re right.
Steve Loftus@LoftusSteve

I made a mistake yesterday that I think others have fallen for too. The BoE is not replacing Churchill and other historical figures so not to cause offense to certain groups. The notes change every 10 years and those involved in voting chose Wildlife. That's it.

@Christianitymag @LoisMcLatch Good article from Lois on the UK Green Party. I'm an ex Green voter, because their focus shifted from the environment to extreme positions on drugs and gender, not to mention leaving NATO and licensing state-supported brothels.

@MikeStarkers @theliamnissan That's not how the chapter reads to me. Not saying I'm sold on the rapture idea, just pointing out that the idea isn't unbiblical.

@TerryTyler4 @theliamnissan The image here comes from the ancient world: citizens welcomed a visiting king by going out to meet him and escorting him to the city. The point of the verse is not that believers stay in the air with Jesus, but that he comes to earth to reign, and they welcome him properly.

1 Thessalonians 4:16-17 For the Lord himself shall descend from Heaven with a shout, with the voice of the Archangel, and with the trump of God: and the dead in Christ shall rise first: Then we which are alive and remain shall be caught up together with them in the clouds, to meet the Lord in the air: and so shall we ever be with the lord. Looks fairly biblical to me.

@MarkMantis Imagine being a church leader outside the USA, as we watch the word ‘evangelical’ become a synonym for cruelty, lying, bigotry and abuse. Whatever those MAGA evangelicals got from the deal, I hope it was worth it. Because it’s poisoned the well for the rest of us.

MAGA Christianity has ruined any chance anyone ever had of converting me. I was close at times too… during my recovery journey… but that shit has been completely voided by those phony, cruel, virtue signaling, “Christ is King,” hypocritical monsters. I know not all Christians are like that, but I’m just speaking my truth. Not going anywhere near that shit myself.

When I sit down with a good Anglican it's like "Oh yeah, this is my people." Then I sit down with a good Baptist and it's like "Mmm, yeah. My people." I'm so confused.

@Jebadoo2 It harms your argument when you use the misogynistic phrase 'grow a pair' (ie of testicles). It implies the absence of male genitalia means weak or inferior. It assumes maleness is superior to femaleness when it comes to being decisive.
