@balldontTy Its a highlight reel. Do you really want them to show all the times defenses sent a hard double, SGA swung the ball to a teammate, and they then quickly scored off the 4-on-3.....in SGA's highlight reel?

@dilanesper Yes a $500 sportsbet will typically have 10cent juice($50), and a $500 poker pot will typically have around 1% rake($5). However, a sportsbet can give you ~3 hours of entertainment. A poker hand lasts a few minutes and then you repeat it over and over(and pay the 1% rake again).

Online poker sites only took a couple of percentage points out of the pool, as compared to sports betting taking 4.5%, sports betting propositions and parlays taking 8-17%, and horse racing taking 15-25%.

@twicedominates @Pants287 Duke was 45th defensively with Bagley, they are #3 in the nation this year…..obv there are other players on those teams who deserve some credit/blame too, but it’s fair to think Boozer has much higher defensive upside based on this imo

@Pants287 This is lowkey another Marvin Bagley situation, he’s simply more athletic and has an nba frame compared to the college comp. Solid all around player, but i don’t see any outstanding traits as a 6’9 NBA 4

@RockChalkBlog Point differential can be looked at too. If they had gone 31-0 while blowing nearly everyone out then they would easily be in even with a conference tourney loss. But they had a number of close wins in those 31.

Miami is No. 93 on Kenpom - would be far and away the worst-ever at large. They have 0 Q1 wins. I get it. But when you go 31-0, beating literally everybody on your schedule, what else do you want them to do? Why even play the season if a literal perfect record isn't enough?

@MarzTalksSports This glamorization of the past is so ridiculous. Watching isolation scorers try to overcome the bad spacing(as a result of their teammates all standing inside the 3pt line) was in no way beautiful. Its much more beautiful to give those skilled scorers more space to operate.

People find beauty in imperfections its what makes flawed superstars so beloved over 'picture perfect' ones. The game wasnt always optimized but the flaws was what made overcoming so beautiful. Now in a world where efficiency>everything the appreciation for imperfection gets lost
Wosny Lambre@BigWos

The insistence that literally EVERYTHING should be “optimized for efficiency”. Which drives the logic of everything from tanking to fouling up 3. It’s gotten to the point of pure bastardization of the NBA product.

Michael Porter Jr. clarifies his Andrew Tate comment when he said sometimes he plays Andrew Tate around women to see their reaction. He added that he experienced a similar backlash as Andrew Tate when he refused to take the COVID-19 vaccine, saying they put allegations on you when you are speaking facts “They put my dawg in jail with no proof he did any of that… They tried to say he trafficked them, but we don’t know. We know that they will put allegations on the people that are speaking too much facts… But his underlying message, like now, when I watch any of his stuff, he just likes to speak pretty true. Now he has has a platform; he’s not doing all that wild stuff… When I didn’t get the vaccine, all of a sudden they started talking crazy about me. They tried to make me sound i’m slow or stupid because I didn’t get the vaccine. Now you fast forward a couple years later, now everybody wishes they didn’t get the vaccine… All this research coming out about why it was harmful for you all, a lot of scientists have come out and said there’s no way clinically that they could be out a safe vaccine within 6 months. The vaccine was not safe to take, and it caused a lot of harm. I didn’t want to put it in my body for my own reasons, but when I didn’t, they started putting all this crazy labels on me that just weren’t true. So I have experienced it personally that they can literally create any narrative they want about someone.” (via The Emily Austin Show)

@LakeShowYo Has there ever been a worse game winning play than Worthy's steal here? He completely sells out for the steal and then just stands there and gives up on the play with 7 seconds left and up 1 point in the national title game lol. The quality of play was so bad back then!

@Sierra_rak (2/2) support her taking control. But on the other hand, 90+% of 20yos absolutely suck at diet/nutrition(often times because their super athletic bodies can get away with eating crap at that age and not have it hinder them much) and would greatly benefit from a pro dietician.

These were her conditions to return to ice-skating: -She picks the music -She has full control over how she looks -She gets to eat whatever she wants. Her coaches can’t starve her anymore -The choreo will be a collaborative effort w/ her, she gets to put elements in that she wants to -She decides when she needs a break from training, never pushing past her limit -And her father has to keep his controlling ass out of her art. She said ‘I love you dad, but you’re not allowed back in.’ Alyssa Liu danced for the joy of it, not for a medal, not for prestige, because she just loves her art. She retired at 16 - a world champion - because she lost touch with the joy. The men around her were driving her career, starving, shaping and controlling her. She rebelled and cast off the chains to go live her best life as a normal teen girl. She returned a young woman unapologetically and uncompromisingly in charge of her own joy and passion, here to do it her way, and only her way. Became world champ at 19 in 2025, ans now gold medalist at 20.

@JoforOregon @ChelseaMakark70 Of course you're free to decline his business. But if you're turning down +EV business opps for personal reasons, then clearly it has bothered you. I think people's confusion stems from you saying "I'm not stressed/bothered" yet choosing to turn down his business. Which is it?

@matt_NJD How come you have no concern for whether or not that joke "ruined the moment" for the women who had just bled for their country to win gold?

Hating the guys who just bled for their country to earn a gold medal because they laughed at an awkward joke the president of the country they just bled for made, after chugging 6 beers in 13 mins with dopamine flowing like water, is certainly a choice Absolutely no one is saying “that’s out of line Mr. President” and ruining one of the coolest moments of their lives for everyone. I’m not a Trump guy but getting congratulatory call from the president, no matter who it is, after winning a gold medal at the Olympics, is a moment as American as apple pie. These are 20-something year old kids high on life (and USA-crested Mich Ultras). No one’s making a political statement in that moment. They laughed at an awkward joke, and if I had to guess, most of them were prob like “the fuck was that joke about?” afterwards. Jack Hughes is an LGTBQ+ advocate. He said his first thought after scoring was Megan Keller’s OT goal. Half the boys watched the women beat Canada in the gold medal game. But there’s a 0% chance any of them are ruining that insanely cool moment. Idc what your politics are. And if you truly think they should’ve ruined that moment and made some sort of moral stand, imo youre just completely out to lunch and are missing the bigger picture of how big of a moment this was. Touch some grass, get off social media. Half these kids prob don’t even know the 3 branches of government. Out of line joke the president made. Shitty joke but that’s on brand for him But don’t turn this unbelievable moment into some social justice crusade. Just let the moment live.

@dothejackal @j_wolfe26 @SamQuinnCBS I'm really confused as to how you agree that its something that will make the games less appealing to watch but then keep saying "but I don't see how thats bad, please explain to me why it is!" The league desires to put out a quality product that fans will pay to see.

@j_wolfe26 @SamQuinnCBS Then fans should stop going to games to incentivize billionaire owners to spend more money. That doesn’t make tanking inherently bad.

I have a new convoluted idea to address tanking/the lottery: a lottery without a fixed number of teams. Very straightforward. Flat odds. Miss the playoffs, you’re in. But you can’t be in consecutive lotteries, and if you’ve been in two out of three, you’re out for the next two. The draft order after the lottery is solely based on record. If six teams are in, you draw for six picks. If 10 teams are in, you draw for 10. There will still be naturally bad, young and rebuilding teams. But there will be less incentive to be explicitly terrible or string together several bad years. I have an anti-gap year addendum I’d consider as well. If you’ve made the NBA Finals within five seasons, you’re banned from the first lottery you’d otherwise be eligible for. Second time, you’re good to go. I’m open-minded about this. I just don’t want good teams taking gap years to take advantage of flat odds. Anyway, most of the lottery concepts I conceive at 4 in the morning are riddled with unintended consequences. So please let me know what I’m wrong about here.

@mystsl I agree that songs need time/space to develop their ideas, but I do think some short songs still accomplish that. Either On or Off the Drugs by @jpegmafia and No One’s Gonna Love You Like I Can by @lauramarlinghq are two examples of songs that really pack a lot into 2 minutes.

@LaurasMiscMovie @briebriejoy That is def quite a few steps above "the most basic level." The most basic level is having maybe like 3 or 4 dishes you can cook well and rotating through those(and most times none of them will contain cilantro).

@briebriejoy Part of learning cooking at the most basic level is simple meal planning. When you buy a bunch of cilantro, you look for a couple menu items to use it up that week. You make some salsa (freezable!) and something else, and poof, it’s gone without going bad.
