Disappointed in all of you. Likes serve as occasional likes, mostly as markers for future reference. Retweets are generally things of interest.

#Philosophy Note 1: The best philosophy is rooted in #annoyance. A desire to root out the source of the annoyance combined with the willingness to #annoy as this is accomplished must both be present. Progress is made when both are adequately provisioned.

So, are archaeologists just, like, retarded, or what? I’m never going to understand this thing where educated people would rather look stupid than say something that violates their politics. It’s such a black pill. You really have to imagine of people like this that there’s nothing they wouldn’t do, no evil they wouldn’t countenance. They’ll literally just say anything. They can be made to believe anything.
Dwarkesh Patel@dwarkesh_sp

David Reich on how much ancient DNA evidence has overturned so much consensus thinking how ancient cultures spread. "It wasn't peaceful, it wasn't friendly, it wasn't nice. Some of our archaeologist co-authors were just really distressed."

It’s whitepilling actually in this sense: only European civilisation carries within itself the seeds of global mastery—the technical skill, the ambition, the daring. Young patriots across the West would do well to remember this.
🤝@xPeaceLandBread

Whitepilling when you learn the Chinese built the biggest ships to ever exist then just scuttled them instead of trying to conquer the planet. Evil is not an inevitable byproduct of power.

Wild this isn't getting news coverage. A homeless woman in Austin gets shot dead in the neck and robbed. Cops figure out pretty fast it was a repeat violent offender Austin prosecutors had already let walk on aggravated robberies, drug felonies, gun charges, plus a separate shooting where he put three bullets in a someone’s leg over a crack baggie. Cops get the guy on his own home camera, six minutes after the murder, bagging up his bloody clothes, telling a woman to mop the floor and lie to the cops, and literally saying out loud “homicide will be in this hoe.” DA José Garza’s office looked at all of it and dropped the murder charge two weeks ago. The man is back on the street.

As an aside I like to head canon that this is what Star Trek is like only the number of people working is lower. All the people in Starfleet are considered total freaks because they left a post scarcity utopia to do that shit

I'm trying to imagine a stable political equilibrium where 20% of people work hard to provide amazing prosperity to 80% of people who are just chilling. The 20% will build a wall and stop paying the 80%. So how do we make it work?

How the 5% California wealth tax is a 67% wealth tax for Sergey Brin: >Owns 3% of GOOG. >Holds 25.3% of voting rights >Wealth tax is assessed as the greater of his ownership or voting rights. So his tax is 5% * his 25.3% voting ownership = 1.27% of the value of GOOG. >1.27% taxes / 3% ownership looks like a 42.2% wealth tax, but that's not quite right. >He has to pay the wealth tax with after-tax cash proceeds. So he needs to sell enough stock to cover 37.1% in taxes first (23.8% federal and 13.3% state). >His gross stock sale has to be 2.01% of GOOG to cover the wealth tax + federal and state taxes. >His wealth tax bill is thus 67% of his net worth (2.01%/3%) >This for 2026. There are proposals being drafted for a 2028 wealth tax. (I understand that some people see this as a feature)

Belgium Police basically surround me while I’m live streaming… and then this happened, I was in Belgium filming the migrant situation when multiple Belgian police vans and officers suddenly approached me on the street. They admitted they had been watching my livestream the entire time. They took me back to my hotel, checked my ID, and searched the place. My trip to Belgium came to a very abrupt end. Migrant trafficking gangs are now openly threatening to shoot me in the head. On top of that, the French authorities have already banned me and now it looks like the Belgian police are monitoring me too. This is a lot bigger than any of us realise. They really don’t want the truth coming out about what’s happening on the ground. #Belgium #MigrantCrisis #PoliceSurveillance #ExposeTheTruth #OperationOverlord

You do realize what Congress did when they voted to allow SNAP to pay for chips and pop right? They're using our tax dollars to subsidize the billion dollar junk food industry. Everyone get's a fucking subsidy except the American taxpayer.

Frank Lloyd Wright once designed a second San Francisco Bay Bridge... the result was beautiful. Six lanes, walkways, and rapid transit would have been swept over the Bay on angelic arches. At the center? A "hanging garden," with sweeping vistas of Oakland and SF.

For those worried about a mass surveillance state in your future A country where about 25% of the population is literate will not be able to keep the lights on let alone support a mass police state You need to be preparing for a soviet collapse. Not a Palantier tech future

Fewer than half of US adults read a book last year. Even fewer read an actual novel, and the trend is looking worse still for teenagers. Why is nobody talking about this??

All the leftists chortling about Virginia's redistricting plan are now melting down about Florida and possibly other states and It. Is. Glorious. You can be for it or against it but the heads I win tails you lose game is not going to work anymore. Want to redistrict nationwide using compact geographical regions and let the chips fall where they may? I'm game but I am in the minority

Is packing the Supreme Court ideal? No but the conservative majority has refused all offers to rule in a nonpartisan manner. If they're gonna keep making partisan decisions then there need to be consequences. Their job is not to advance Republican policy from the bench.

This is really cool. Babies with brain damage due to oxygen deprivation during delivery are being treated with breastmilk squirted up their noses. Breast milk contains stem cells and neurotropic factors that can help the brain heal, and delivering it intranasally allows them to reach the brain and nervous system more directly, aiding healing. It's now reckoned the treatment could be used at home, over the long term, to help infants recover from such brain damage. I predict it won't be long before biohackers and esoteric health posters are also squirting breastmilk up their noses...

Met somebody who told me their mortgage kept getting refused despite having a perfect credit score, a decent wage, & 30K upfront. Banks wouldn’t say why. Got told to pay a broker, an Indian guy. He had a family member working as an underwriter at one of the banks, accepted within days.

This entire country seems to have evolved into making the lives of ordinary, functioning members of society as miserable and dysfunctional as possible. Everything has to go wrong several times before it even considers that it could function. Kakistocracy par excellence.
