Dear @sreeramjvc, Politics is not just arithmetic; it's about sentiment, timing, and ground realities. When Annan @PonnaarrBJP delivered success in 2014, he had the advantage of a powerful Modi wave sweeping across the nation. When Annan @annamalai_k took charge, the situation was completely different. He inherited years of unchecked anti-Modi propaganda and negative sentiment that had been allowed to grow without effective countering. His challenge was not to ride a positive wave, but to convert a hostile political environment into a favorable one. Comparing raw numbers without considering the political circumstances behind them is misleading. Building support from a positive base is one thing; transforming entrenched negativity into growing acceptance is an entirely different battle. Stop cherry-picking statistics for convenience. Judge leaders by the challenges they faced and the ground they gained, not by isolated data points.

There are some @WTLFoundation handles which wants to show that BJP performed better in 2024 compared to 2014. Please see the data below: BJP contested in 8 Lok Sabha seats in 2014. Nomination was rejected at Niligirs. So it comes to 8*6= 48 Assembly segments. 48 assembly segments gave 5.56%. Extrapolating the same for 138 Assembly segments since in 2024 BJP contested in 23 Lok Sabha elections & got 11.24%. (138*5.56)/48=15.985 BJP must have got 15.98% in 2024 when you compare with 2014 but got only 11.24%. BJP’s performance under @PonnaarrBJP was much better than @annamalai_k Point to note: Ponnar didn’t have a War Room while Annamalai had a war room which was funded with more than 20 lakhs per month. Ponnar didn’t take an En Maan En Makkal Yatra where over ₹25 crores was spent by the party. DMDK which was the bigger party in 2014 was in a decline. I can go on like this with more points. Compared to Ponnar, Annamalai was an electoral failure. Failures Breed Failures. Talk with Data & not Rhetoric and Abuses.

@AgentSaffron 2014 : BJP coming for change. 2024 - BJP trying to retain 10yr of govt - their total tally decreased to 240. 2019 - their increase from 280 to 303. But in TN - BJP is 0 with alliance in 19. Very convinient : 2014 DMK and congress contest alone. Its app-Ora 14 vs 24

Look at the State President’s home constituency in 2024. Huge power & humongous resources were given to you in 2024 & the place from where you did the podcast today gave your party just 12.13% in 2024 when the BJP Central Leadership went by your words. You showcased where you were born & brought up but you had very limited influence even there. Then what about the rest of the state. Don’t blame the demography since when you contested as a candidate in 2021 with the alliance with 🌱you polled 38.90%. Even AIADMK polled 27% in 2026. You destroyed NDA in 2024 when NDA could have won 12 to 15 seats from Tamil Nadu for your selfish reasons. You facilitated DMK+ to win 39/39 seats in 2024. Imagine for a moment if AP, TG & OD didn’t send BJP MP’s, what could have happened! If NDA had won 12 to 15 seats in 2024 TVK would not have come to power in 2026. Don’t go around talking like a saint when you were the sinner for BJP in 2024. I feel guilty for having stood with you in 2024. Sorry Mr. @annamalai_k for exposing this. I had to.

There is a narrative being built that Annamalai left BJP with some tacit approval from the central BJP. I believe this narrative is not being created because it is convincing, but because many genuine cadres and supporters are unable to psychologically accept what has happened. For the last few years, many supporters built their political hopes around two beliefs. First, that Annamalai was a committed BJP man and that the central BJP would never simply allow him to walk away. Second, that he was a Hindutva ideologue and a core nationalist who represented a different kind of politics in Tamil Nadu. Now both beliefs have been shaken. Annamalai leaving BJP itself is difficult for many supporters to digest. But what is even harder for them to accept is that a person whom they believed to be a Hindutva ideologue could equate BJP with DMK, ADMK, TVK. So, naturally, some supporters are creating theories to explain away this contradiction. They are trying to convince themselves that there must be some larger strategy between Annamalai and the BJP. In my view, this is only a psychological coping mechanism. The reality, as I see it, is very different. Annamalai was neither a true Hindutva ideologue nor a core nationalist. In his own resignation video, he said that when someone asks him whether he is a Tamilan first or an Indian first, he feels conflicted. A real nationalist will never feel conflicted on this question. Regional identity and national identity need not be enemies. One can be proudly Tamil and proudly Indian. This is where Annamalai revealed his real ideological position. My reading is simple: Annamalai saw BJP as a platform that could help his personal political growth. He joined the party, used the visibility and resources available through the party, and built a powerful personal brand. I am not against personal branding. Every successful politician needs it. But the problem is that the branding was largely centred around him, not around BJP as an organisation. Instead of strengthening the party’s long-term identity in Tamil Nadu, the party’s platform was used to project one individual as the entire movement. The same party resources were also used to damage the image of existing BJP leaders. I have my own disagreements with many traditional Tamil Nadu BJP leaders. I do not support all their actions or strategies. But using party resources to weaken your own party’s leaders is a much bigger issue. Beyond party leaders, even the naturally built nationalist ecosystem that existed before Annamalai entered BJP was damaged. There were many non-party supporters, independent voices who stood with BJP even before Annamalai became prominent. When many of them had genuine differences of opinion about him, the party’s strategy, or alliance politics, they were not engaged with in a democratic or ideological manner. Instead, they were targeted, discredited and pushed out of the conversation. Once that older ecosystem was weakened, a new ecosystem was created around Annamalai. Many people who simply nodded along with him replaced those who had been supporting the larger cause for years. That new ecosystem is now being used to create narratives for Annamalai and against BJP. And now, after leaving the party, the same ecosystem is being used to justify his exit and attack the party that gave him the platform. In my view, Annamalai is not a Hindutva leader. He is not a core nationalist. He is a street-smart politician who used the ideology for his personal rise. Now that he feels he has gained influence over a section of nationalists, he wants to expand into a wider political audience. That is why he has moved out. I feel sad for the sincere supporters who emotionally invested in him for the last 5 years. Many of them believed they were supporting a cause. But in reality, they were made to contribute to the rise of one individual’s personal political project. That is the practical reality of what has happened.

BJP in 2024 should have scored 16% to 18% and NDA must have got 23% to 25%. But there were 13 strategic mistakes that were made. We can’t blame Annamalai alone for that. Some blame should be taken by others too including central leadership. But if BJP & NDA had clocked these numbers the game would have been completely different. I am least bothered about Trolls & Rabid Dogs. This is to share my perspective. If you want to read on please go ahead or else simply ignore. 1. Tiruvallur Lok Sabha Candidate selection was completely wrong. How can a candidate belonging to DKV community be fielded from here? Blame squarely lies on the then State President. 2. Chennai South. Parachuting a Former Governor was a very bad idea. Madam is a nice human being but she hardly got the cooperation from local leaders who were occupied in other constituencies. Blame is here on Central Leadership. I know for a fact that Annamalai had better ideas for this seat. 3. Sriprembudur Biggest blunder to give this seat to TMC. They were not even willing to contest from this seat. GK Vasan never asked for this seat. There were few people like Dolphin Srithar & others who had toiled hard. This seat should have given 30%+ for BJP. I requested then state President not to give this seat to PMK & BJP should contest but seat was handed over to TMC. 4. Chidambaram Imported a candidate from Vellore district when there was TADA Periyasamy who had worked from there. That lady deserved to fight but not from this seat. She could have been accommodated anywhere else or Gudiyatham could have been promised in 2026. 4. Nagaipatnam BJP had no business to fight from this seat. Should have been given to TMC along with one more in Delta region. This seat pulled the BJP vote share badly. 5. Trichy Anyone from 🪷 would have performed better. Trichy welcomes outsiders. History shows that. Why was this seat given to AMMK when TTV himself never asked for this seat. 6. Sivaganga Devanathan Yadav neither knew the Geography nor the Demography. Yet he was given this seat. A Muthrayar candidate since they are the dominant community could have given better results. 7. Madurai Professor had worked hard at Virudhunagar but uncertainty prevailed till the last minute & he was fielded when all his work was at Virudhunagar. 8. Virudhunagar Radhika should have never been fielded. Wrong calculation that she being a Telugu speaking person can deliver. Poor 3rd. 9. Thoothukudi Why to TMC? Sarath Kumar must have contested from here. NDA’s vote share plummeted due to this. TMC didn’t have a proper candidate even & they never asked. 10. Tenkasi Biggest blunder. You give seat to John Pandian in Southern Tamil Nadu & expect Maravar to vote for you. His candidature spoiled Nainar’s chances at Tirunelveli & Annamalai lost several thousands of votes at Coimbatore. Ananthan Ayyasamy had prepared this constituency from Watrap to Senkottai. Every wall was painted Saffron. But was denied the seat. Again same mistake by Nainar in 2026 to give the Rajapalayam seat to JP’s wife. You expect Maravar to vote at Sivagiri in Vasudevanallur to 🪷when BJP gives seat to his wife at Rajapalayam. What does JP bring to the table? HATRED from OBC/MBC. 11. Tirupur A seat which gave 25% to NDA in 2014 is allocated at the last minute. Most party workers had gone to Palladam by the time candidate was announced. An AIADMK supporter challenged me that BJP would get 25%+ & I said they would not cross 16%. APM should not be blamed since he had no time to campaign. 12. Erode Again to TMC. Did they seek this seat? No. Was Yuvaraj willing to contest. No way. I had spoken to him during that time. Was Vidiyal Sekar willing to contest. No. Who took this decision? 13. Namakkal BJP workers had toiled hard for 3 years & you give the seat to KP Ramalingam who doesn’t even campaign properly. Most voters get repelled seeing his face. May be that’s why he didn’t show his face. Blunder after Blunders.

Some of the privileges and opportunities given to him by Modi Ji, Amit Shah Ji, and Nadda Ji are unprecedented. No politician can even dream of receiving this level of support, trust, and funding from any party unless it’s his dad’s own party. 🔆 Made State Vice President the very next day after joining BJP. 🔆Became State President within just 10 months of entering politics. 🔆Received major funding to build a personal branding and communications “War Room”. 🔆 Granted Z-category security within one year of joining BJP. 🔆 Given a completely new district and state team within 9 months of taking charge. 🔆Modi Ji broke protocol by taking him in his car and helicopter just 15 months after he became State President. 🔆Given direct access to communicate with Central Ministers. 🔆Appointed Karnataka Election Co-Incharge within 3 years of joining politics. 🔆En Mann En Makkal Yatra was fully funded by the party. In addition to the expenses across all constituencies, around ₹5 crore was spent on the concluding event at Palladam. 🔆Given the authority to reject an alliance with AIADMK despite having less than 4 years of active political experience. 🔆Given full control over alliance decisions, seat sharing, and campaign strategy for the 2024 Lok Sabha elections. The result: Zero seats. 🔆Allowed a three-month sabbatical to study in London. No other State President has been given such a long break. 🔆Led the BJP campaign in the 2026 Assembly elections, addressed over 100 meetings, and was the only leader with a dedicated helicopter throughout the campaign. For comparison, even Udhayanidhi Stalin’s rise in his own family owned party was slower because it had resistance from party seniors, BJP is a party with discipline and accepts any leader appointed by national leadership. 🔹 Youth Wing Secretary – July 2019 🔹 Elected as Chepauk-Thiruvallikeni MLA – May 2021 🔹 Became Minister – December 2022 🔹 Became Deputy Chief Minister – December 2024 Now some people ask: “Why was he not given a national party post?” The answer is simple: 🔹 Since the membership drive started on 2 September 2024, no new national appointments have been made. 🔹 There has also been no change in Cabinet since the government was sworn in on 10 June 2024.

@Selvakumar_IN Ji, alliance shld be equals. TN-BJP should grow to a stage where they can be treated as equals in TN-BJP. Bihar-Politics: each party has 20% pc BJP/JDU/RJD. One cannot win w/o other. You could grow when people contest as much as constituencies then asses based on that.

Loksabha elections 2024 was to elect Modi or Rahul ! Whereas 2026 elections was between EPS vs Stalin vs Vijay It’s like comparing Modi vs Stalin. Also, TN voted in mass for Modi ji in 2024 for - COVID management was better than any developed nations in the world - post COVID, India became the fastest growing nation in the world. Overall 2024 election was Modi’s election. Every party has to win seats, only then party can consolidate its strength and grow from there seeman got 8% in 2024 and 4% in 2026, vote % has no meaning unless it gets converted in seats. Moreover, govt formation is on seats - that’s why congress is getting undue advantage in TN today.

Anyone can start a party in a democracy. But saying “National parties don’t speak the language that people in Tamil Nadu understand.” is not correct and not different from what D stocks have been parroting. Be it culture, language, heritage, or welfare initiatives, the BJP and Prime Minister Modi ji have consistently engaged with and acknowledged the aspirations of the people of Tamil Nadu. In fact, it was Modi ji’s government which has brought the holistic aspect of Tamil culture forward, compared to agenda driven cultural localism. One could lose count of the number of times Modi ji has praised the Tamil language, culture, and the contributions of Tamilians to Indian civilization. This is not the right way to start.
Rahul Shivshankar@RShivshankar

ANNAMALAI DETAILS WHY HE QUIT. 1. Clearly hints at obstructions also from within BJP 2. National parties don't speak a language that locals understand 3. Senior BJP leadership disagreed with his approach
