Over 20 years of acrylic nails and gel pedicures- drilled it all off a few months ago and have patiently nursed my nails back to health. Strange phenom- all the pedicures would leave me with hard bottoms of feet between pedicures. Bought my own supplies, softened feet in every shower for a month or so and as of now, it’s not needed at all. Smooth as a baby’s bottom. Nails strong and healthy and natural. Thankfully, I was blessed with long nail beds so it helps. Moral of the story- I enjoyed my mani-pedi time- it was mine. It cost me near $150 every time I went in. (Nuts) but I saw it as part of my self grooming time. What I’ve realized is how much my outsourcing self care cost me- not only monetarily, but in the actual act of self care. I didn’t want to take the time. Was too busy and thought my long nails were professional. Now, it’s part of my daily regimen. Not just every 2 weeks. It’s not vanity to care for your appearance. Don’t let the religious ones shame for it, it’s actually a healthy self relationship. Anyway, Sunday musings. I was enjoying my coffee and admiring my feet. 😂💀

Happy St Patrick’s Day everyone. I turned 71 today, and approaching this birthday I’ve been doing a lot of reflecting on the past year. One constant has been my late son Mac’s music, which has continued to inspire me.  While going through his recordings, I discovered many more songs, melodies, lyrics, musical ideas - enough to create Resurrection & Revival: Part Three, a new three-disc album, finished with the help of his friends.  I miss Mac more than I could ever express. This kid just died in the Iran conflict… and it hits hard because he’s from my city. I know people who went to school with him. Sgt. Declan J. Coady. 20 years old. West Des Moines, Iowa. Graduated high school just two years ago. Pray for his family.
