@elopawsy Valve hasn't done anything new. There's already a market for micro ATXs and NUCs. The only thing SM adds is CEC.

I feel like the steam machine is maybe not to be purchased by anyone but more to prove to other constructor that they may be a market for a "Pc console" and cause steam got the software with steam os they will got some traction with it, I would not be surprised if a lot of "Pc console" come soon similar to when the steamdeck was getting out

Many don't get what Valve is doing. This isn't intended to beat PS5 Pro, sell more than Switch 2 or outperform your 6090 PC. This is console-like QOL in a six inch cube with the largest (official) game library on the market. (and the next step for SteamOS and Proton's evolution)

@mooreslawisdead 20+ years of using Steam and this seriously has me questioning the future of PC gaming.

Can you imagine if a new XBOX, or a new RADEON GPU, had these issues at this price? The press would lose their minds! Why are they handing out participation trophies to a Multi-Billion Dollar Company?!🤣 And you know what? Going easy on Steam Machine is actually damaging to the Gaming Market. It lowers expectations and inflates anticipated pricing for future consoles. It makes gamers go "well idk IGN gave the Steam Machine a higher score than the PS5 Pro, so if the PS6 is $1049 that's ok!" Tech Press - do your f***ing jobs.🤦‍♂️

@Boulders3030 @BonafideXP It should be able to handle 60 FPS @ Ultra Preset 1080p (or 4k w/ performance FSR). I just don't think some of these reviewers know how to tweak settings

@BonafideXP But my Series S runs Forza at 60fps. Why can't the Steam Machine? And I paid $200 for the XSS. And since I gameshare with a friend, the price of new games and Gamepass is effectively halved. Another thing... Will GTA 6 be on this thing anytime soon?

This recommendation isn’t the whole issue. 4M People didn’t buy the Steam Deck just because it was affordable. They also had access to their Steam library on the go. They could’ve bought a ROG Ally or a Legion Go, both of which are more powerful. While I understand price is definitely important, you can’t assume that is all players are looking for. - Where is your library of games at? - Do you care about specs? - Do you care to pay for online play or no? - Do deep discounts on games entice you, over online Plus programs and subscription services? When you do the math, adding monthly or yearly subscription fees, and less often discounts on games overtime; you’re still paying more for a console than you would a Steam Machine. Ask yourself how much you’ve paid for Game Pass or PlayStation Plus for just this generation alone, and add that to the cost of the hardware…. Now compare that to the straight up cost of the Steam Machine… @Steam

@BonafideXP Yeah I have 20 years of steam purchases I wouldn't mind having access to on my living room TV. With that said... I also don't want a device that'll be outdated in 1-2 year and unable to play upcoming games.

Honestly when you consider the PS5 Pro costs $150 less, it's not that as bad as I was expecting. Free online, cheaper games and the having the utility of a PC, it's not atrocious...

@xonebros Xbox handicapped their own studios with their Game Pass BS. Why would their games have decent sales when they've been telling players to just sub to Game Pass and play them there?

The Xbox studio closures aren’t hard to understand. As an example, South of Midnight reportedly cost around $100M to make and market, and sold an estimated 500k copies. Crimson Desert cost roughly $133M and has sold over 6 million. One game returned the investment many times over and one didn’t come close. That’s why studios get closed.

@AChevyWolf Valve failed here because they lack supply chain scale. They've adjusted their pricing upward more than competitors like Nintendo and Sony because they can't secure components as cheaply. Valve should seriously consider backing out of the hardware business for the time being.

Funny how fast people turn on Valve, who are the most consumer-friendly company out there at the moment, because they were FORCED to raise prices due to AI

@G27Status $949 is insane when the Xbox Ally X is still at $999 with better specs. Or just save $500 and get a Switch 2.
