@langoo @CitizenUddin Correct, he may have stopped once before deciding to filter past, however still not cycle lane across the junction. So my point remains, why point out the car and not the cyclist

@snevinoj @BobFromAccounts Prior to that we need to ensure the parking constraints are brought in line with current car regulations, therefore bigger parking spaces & as cars are still the most popular transport we need more parking spaces. Sounds like a deal, glad we agree 👍

@professlou @LittleNinjaUK However before blocking all traffic from passing through a neighbourhood put the alternative in place, not just say “stop driving and cycle”. Not everyone wishes to or can cycle

@LittleNinjaUK Neighborhoods aren't meant for traffic. What makes someone think they should be allowed to drive their vehicle through a residential neighborhood

Would every person who cycles have otherwise travelled by car? No. TfL confirm cycling infrastructure and LTNs have increased congestion, reduced bus speeds and shifted bus users towards other transport modes. Schemes that worsen traffic congestion are clearly anti-driver.
Francesca 🚲💕@francesca_kms

Better cycling infrastructure isn’t anti-driver. Every person who cycles is one fewer car in traffic, one fewer car competing for parking & one less delay for those who need to drive People don’t cycle where it feels unsafe. That’s why infrastructure gradually changes behaviour

@hodgkissdavid @JeremyVineOn5 Sorry, if you say “it’s ok provided you are careful” someone will start to argue what is/isn’t careful. Best to just say No Cycling On Pavements

@JeremyVineOn5 As long as people ride on pavements mindfully and respectfully it's not an issue. Not going full pelt on electric bikes popping wheelies or riding like maniacs. Just be careful and be aware of pedestrians, children, pensioners, crazy dogs lol it's not difficult.

Is it OK to cycle on the pavement? Cycling on the pavement is an offence, but the police can make exceptions. Do you think it's ever ok? Or is it your pet peeve?

@JeremyVineOn5 If Police enforced the road laws & courts banned drivers, including jailing driving while disqualified, cyclists would not have to use pavements to avoid dangerous drivers.

@JeremyVineOn5 Speaking as someone who has been hit by Lime Bikes being ridden on a No Cycling Pavement, cyclists should definitely NOT be permitted to ride on pavements.

@IsSaddleThereIs Are you saying #Cycleway1 should be returned to a standard road and cyclists should simply use like any other road. Kind of makes sense, good suggestion 👍

@66hayles @but_cyclists Same reason why many who use cleats don’t stop, too much hassle for them. Personally, if you can’t stop at Red Lights, don’t cycle or choose a more appropriate bike. No good excuse. IMO

@ediz1975 Good to see the cyclist did bother checking it was clear to change lanes or signal the manoeuvre, much better to complain about officers looking after someone in distress

Thoughts on this cyclist…. Are they right to complain about emergency services being in cycle lane to what looks like treating a hurt cyclist ?

@snevinoj @BobFromAccounts Unfortunately many cyclists need training and the quality of cycling is falling. Yes, many drivers are also below ideal however many more also need to compensate for the falling standards of cyclists. Possibly too many cyclists believe they can do anything & others will adapt

@snevinoj @BobFromAccounts Because too many show a lack of understanding of the HC and failure to exhibit basic skills & observation required to safely share a road with other road users. Possibly if there was better education for cyclists it would reduce casualty figures

@ChrisandVictory @IsSaddleThereIs If dismounted and walking then no problem with using the pavement, in fact it’s preferable to walking on the road. That said, why is the van parked there? Totally stupid
