@francesca_kms Why are you always in a hurry ? We have great family time in our car, kids in the back singing to the radio, telling jokes . I feels sorry for kids being forced to ride a bike in sooty cities .

@AJManaseer The problem is as a society people are becoming too binary, we are loosing the ability of compromise. Reality is that BOTH cycling and driving MUST coexist. Arguments such as ‘ban all cars’ sound good but are unrealistic & made by people who often delegate their road usage.

Today’s bike lane movement is driven by irrational car hatred more than rider safety. It is led by fringe ideological zealots and must be completely dismantled.

@timbo_61 @BobFromAccounts He's taking about London, not the rest of the country, he's also not say there shouldn't be delivery drivers, or people who actually need to drive, driving.
Very few need to drive into London to work unless their job is actually driving, they may well drive as part of their job.

People should absolutely be penalised for driving in London. Speeding kills, pollution kills, and LTNs make everything safer. Driving a private vehicle is selfish and has consequences for everyone around you.

Family, Community, Country…and cars. Whether it’s blanket 20mph ,ULEZ or LTNs, people feel penalised just for driving, people don’t see safety they see a system that’s fleecing them! End the racket on May 7.

@BobFromAccounts And yet those that need to do. There are also a lot who delegate their driving to delivery drivers, etc. along with many others who come to in for work.

@yungee__ @jamesfarrar @jimwaterson Possibly a good indication that laws regarding cycling need to be brought up to date to reflect current day. I often see cyclists using phones whilst cycling.

@jamesfarrar @jimwaterson Looking down at his phone while going across a junction isn't the best of plans either.
People just seem to lack common sense (at best) I think often due to the generally perceived lack of chance of dying or being seriously injured.

What strikes me most about this video is not so much that the rider is obviously on the wrong side of the road but you can see he is struggling to bring a very heavy and over powered bike to a safe stop. cc, @jimwaterson

@CyclingKent101 A major barrier is many of the cyclist who think they are superior in some way and rubbish like your post doesn’t help. As cyclists we share the roads, we don’t own them. Drivers (which most people are) and cyclists need to respect each other, not confront each other

It seems to me that a major barrier to cycling exists, which depends upon your political view.
It's absurd that using a cheap, environmentally friendly and fun form of transport is seen as a left wing value, meaning nobody on the right can even consider doing such a thing.

@4ChordsNoNet We have to get large vehicles off the road. Lorries, trucks, HGVs. An absolute menace, rarely sufficiently prosecuted, and so many of them drive like absolute w*nkers, ignoring everyone around them to avoid slowing even slightly.

@4ChordsNoNet Hopefully when all the facts are known we will have a better understanding of what happened. Strange position with the lights, did the cyclists ride up inside & driver not see her. Hopefully facts will get reported.

I love going to London (work or vacation) and not stressed by cars. I often get stressed by cyclists though. I also love places like Brighton, again not a problem having cars

This queue is mostly made up of private vehicles. The die-hard car brains who believe it is still a sensible idea to drive in the city should be required to pay per mile. This congestion significantly impacts essential services, trades, & buses. Bottom line, it's selfish.

@timbo_61 Cars ruin cities and should be restricted and flat out banned from some areas. Cities that grow around trains are far better. The less people use cars, the better cities become for everyone, including drivers. Suburbs are a result of cars, where they hinder community- building.

@timbo_61 Selfishness rolls on four wheels and empty seats. Surrounded by metal, you're isolated from the rest of humanity, to the point where the presence of other humans on the road feels like intrusion.
Solidarity understands all ages and abilities must be accomodated in public spaces.

At long last we have a law for dangerous cyclists and e-bikes. Those who cycle or ride e-bikes recklessly causing fatal accidents to pedestrians or road users can now feel the full force of the law. Matt Briggs and others who have campaigned for justice should be congratulated for their perseverance.
