@ImmersionBroke @SaiekoVT @Morphologis I've done starter-ROC with hired Cutlass to Prospector to Mole with C2 at least 3 or 4 times...lazy has nothing to do with it...it's about whether, from a development and testing perspective, it's a good idea to make the grind so severe as to drive people away from crafting etc

@tohellwithit1 @SaiekoVT @Morphologis It's not even difficult, you can learn to mine and go mine your first rock in a matter of 30 or so minutes. From YT to Rock. But if you want high tier, you gotta do a lot of searching. Its not hard, just time consuming. People are lazy.

I can see why some are turned off by Star Citizen crafted items. Crafting right now is a bit too time intensive if you want stats to be above +0. We had 43 people in a coordinated mining op going for 5 hours, of 215 combined hours, and only managed enough for 7 suits of armor with a minimum of 500 quality materials. IMO they need to lower the quality minimum to start achieving higher than 0 stats, or increase the spawn rate of 500+ materials. How have your experiences been?

@tohellwithit1 100% yeah hence why its so hard to judge this because CIG hasnt set their base lines for everything which cause so many problems when they keep adding in these stupid husk systems instead of just fully developing it first and then throwing it to us to critique for balance.

@SaiekoVT I agree cash should be wiped but I think wiping the ships has the same problem, there's only so many times a citizen with a starter is going to grind for a Mole and a C2, from my long hard experience! So wiping them again could restrict player usage which could be bad fr testing

@tohellwithit1 This is the problem with not wiping when the game needs it, and gets major new mechanics id say I agree but the game is alpha (for what its worth) it states when opening it that you are agreeing to all the struggle that come with that including wipes and gear loss.

@SaiekoVT Oh I agree to an extent but would caveat, there is no endgame at the moment, it's in development!

@tohellwithit1 "ok tier 1 and 2 requirements should be abit less to make getting your foot in the door more approachable and easier but tier 3 should stay a hard grind for 30-50 hours as it currently stands as best in slot until tiers 4 and 5 release then you adjust tier 3 down abit and-

@SaiekoVT I see your point but they'll be even more upset if they sink 30 hours into a helmet they no longer own after a patch, for which they have to mine and get contracts for all over again!

@SaiekoVT We're discussing getting high end materials that will probably only confer a minor improvement to just a helmet on it's own. You won't be invincible. Exactly how much time is adjacent to the point as everyone's different in that but as I said earlier 20-30 hours seems excessive.

@tohellwithit1 this discussion is getting hard to continue im ngl because we've yet to confirm is we're A. still discussing high end or low end and B. you've yet to tell me what you'd expect it to take to get best in lot gear. This problem further backs up my argument on tiers because-

@SaiekoVT In a fully tested and released game, maybe that long. But you aren't going to be able to take this stuff forward into a released game and it will invariably be wiped whether intentionally or not so to sink that much time into something that may only last a patch doesn't seem 1/2

@SaiekoVT The above seems a seems a little excessive to me, a large majority of the player base, I would wager, won't grind 20-30 hours to receive a minor buff to a helmet. Although some will test it, a system generally needs excessive testing to prove it working well and free of bugs!

@tohellwithit1 1. you didnt answer my question 2. this issue is people at large expect a change like that to stay so they can get the best gear in a matter of hours which isnt good for a game and spells its death. I see your point but again I dont think its a good idea to lower things until-

@SaiekoVT 2/2 will be tiny and therefore the testing pool of players with enhanced weapons will also be small. SC is a game in development, so for now it makes little sense to restrict materials so much as to put people off testing the systems and harder to find a true balance imo

@SaiekoVT Well after 8-10 hours mining so far, I've only come across 1 hand minable and 2 small rocks with over 900, 2 or 3 800 and maybe 8-10 700. That's just after scanning rather than searching for anything specific. This means the player base achieving 900 plus on all materials 1/2

@SaiekoVT @Morphologis If top tier materials and gear is too difficult and time consuming to get then hardly anyone will have them which would surely be worse from a testing and endgame stat point of view. It's like wiping ships, if it's done constantly then fewer people are testing the top tier.

@Morphologis B. The tier system gets added with like an actual measurement to whats considered starter and endgame stats in CIG's eyes. I genuinely do not see this going well regardless of how soft the changes you want would be.

@Science_Edi @owenjonesjourno It's been shortened to just 'the gulf' as in 'the gulf states' for decades, bizarre you should compare that common omission to actually changing the name completely? Also many in the UK refer to 'the channel' and omit the 'English' part, so thanks for providing another example!
