When Mayor-elect Mamdani takes office, he will control over 6,300 miles of streets throughout the five boroughs. Reducing car dependence is one of the best ways to reduce costs for New Yorkers. Owning a car costs nearly $9,000 annually, while taking transit costs just $1,500.

Walking through the park today, you'd never know that it only became permanently car-free in 2018. It seems impossible to imagine this treasured space being filled with vehicles. A few years from now, people will say the same thing about Grand Army Plaza!

Why do New Yorkers have to cross a highway to reach Prospect Park? It’s never made any sense, but that’s exactly the status quo. We gathered more than 4,000 petition signatures calling for a Safer Grand Army Plaza, and now it's finally happening!

Whoa. @NYCMayor is going to make the Grand Army Plaza Greenmarket almost an acre bigger (and make buses faster, and halve the number of points of conflict between cyclists, pedestrians, and drivers)

"Council Member Chris Marte and other locals hope repurpose the 12 or so parking spots surrounding the space to for a lush pedestrian-first park."

Big news for Brooklyn! Right now, Flatbush Ave is a dangerous, traffic-clogged nightmare that doesn't work for anyone. This long-overdue upgrade means faster travel for 132,000 daily bus riders, easier access to local businesses, and safer streets for everyone.
