My read on this is Trump is done with this war. He never intended for there to be boots on the ground. So the choice is now simple for Iran — open the strait and agree to no nuclear weapons or the US will destroy all their oil/energy and just leave, which will be so economically devastating for Iran it will probably be the end of the Islamic regime anyway.

The Pentagon has been warning for years it does not have a sufficient stockpile of interceptor for prolonged engagement. Iran absolutely has more missiles then the US has interceptors.
