@markgurman You guys have no idea how difficult is what they are trying to achieve on an on device model. Even if optics don’t look the best rn, it’s still much better than a private data controversy x AI.

It's also not even clear there is a singular person to blame here. Apple Intelligence was co-led by Craig Federighi and John Giannandrea. Marketing goes up to Greg Joswiak and Tor Myhren. You can't just fire everyone. This isn't the Apprentice.

When thinking about accountability for Apple AI, don't forget how rare it is for an Apple SVP to be fired. While Scott Forstall's exit was framed at the time as due to the Maps crisis, that was only the final straw. There was much, much more to it.
