@C__Herridge What I believe he is missing is that it is only “existential” to the ruling mullahs and the IRGC. To the people of Iran it is “emancipating.”

As historic talks begin in Pakistan, where the war stands from a 4-Star who has lived these decisions.

BREAKING: Retired @CENTCOM Commander Gives Exclusive In-Depth Analysis of Operation Epic Fury; Warns That Iran’s Fight is "Existential" And U.S. Should Not Underestimate Their Ability to "Absorb Pain” and Endure the Fight This week on Straight to the Point, on the eve of the ceasefire, I sat down with retired 4-Star General Joe Votel for an exclusive interview to discuss Operation Epic Fury. Gen. Votel gives expert insight into how long Iran can sustain the fight, what it would take to open the Strait of Hormuz by force, control Kharg Island, options for securing Iran’s enriched uranium, the planning behind last weekend’s historic rescue operation inside Iran, and the atmosphere in the Situation Room during high-risk missions. @thelatmg @latimesstudios_ Straight to the Point: Operation Epic Fury 00:30 US Had Iran Attack Plan On The Shelf 01:25 Military End State 02:00 This is Existential: Iran Has “Very Great” Ability to Absorb Pain 03:03 Remaining Military Objectives 03:30 Opening Strait of Hormuz By Force 06:10 What It Would Take For US To Control Kharg Island 07:20 Is Deployment of Ground Forces Likely Or Inevitable? 08:25 Does the US Military Have Capabilities To Seize Iran’s Enriched Uranium? 10:18 Impact of President Trump’s Social Media Posts “Whole Civilization Will Die Tonight” 11:15 Rescue Mission Was “Extraordinary” In “Every Measure” 12:40 When An American Is In Peril "We Pull Out All The Stops And We Accept A Lot of Risk To Go Get Them.” 13:16 The Rescue Contingency Plan 14:00 High Risk Covert Capabilities: Title 50 15:50 Inside The Situation Room 16:55 Gen. @walterkirn In a related story, sales of in-home brass poles have seen a spike as they have replaces flowers as the #1 anniversary gift.

@kramerposts Suite: Judy Blue Eyes, CS&N. This song has everything. Complex songwriting, beautiful harmonies, tempo changes, Stills’ guitar licks, romance, heartache, and an unforgettable hook to finish it off.

@ianbremmer The Strait of Hormuz is not about Iran. It is about China and Europe. Trump is using the Strait as post-war leverage.

@walterkirn My two sons are two of my very best friends. It’s been a pleasure to raise them, travel with them, and roughhouse with them. They’re now starting their own families and the cycle begins again.

I used to play "Sergeant" with my kids (boy and girl) where they were deserting the base and I was pursuing them, shouting in a deep voice. Then I tried to haul them back. Many intense struggles ensued. But there was no game they demanded to play more often.
Anthony Bradley@drantbradley

When I present the data on how vital father-son roughhousing is, dads often ask, “Until what age?” My response, “As long as you both can walk, that’s how important it is.” Josh Harris knows this! [P.S.—the teen years are particular crucial.]

@BuzzPatterson The stated goal was always to start with the most dangerous and widen out to include “those here illegally.” Whatever report NBC is citing must have ignored that part of the plan. And NBC is obviously ignoring that part of the plan.

He did not say he was going to “end Iranian civilization.” What he actually said was, “a whole civilization will end tonight.” He was talking about the 7th Century Theocracy, not Iranian civilization. He wants to free the Iranians from the repressive Theocracy that has imprisoned them for 47 years.

Terrible: The legendary Troy Aikman is under heavy criticism online for tweeting three American flag emojis from his account today amid America's war with Iran. Aikman has donated over $40,000 to the Republican Party since 1999. 😳😳😳

Yes, pray for peace. Also understand what has happened to the vibrant, innovative Persian culture under the oppressive 7th Century Theocracy. Iranians of all religions deserve to be free of religious and political persecution. Just look at photos from pre-1979 Iran. Absolutely beautiful.

I’m guessing he and his intelligence operatives have specific targets in mind and I’m guessing you don’t know what they are. You’re just buying into - and spreading - the false “mad-man” narrative. He’s working hand in hand with the Mossad - remember them, they’re the ones who infiltrated Hezbollah so deeply that they destroyed their leadership with beepers - the IDF, and assets none of us are even aware of. I’m not saying, “sit back and relax.” We should all be worried. What’s going to happen is neither surgical nor optimal, but it is in no way “targeting civilians,” as their own IRGC assassins have done. (Civilians and civilian infrastructure are not the same thing) What it will do is resolve a 47-year old problem and, ultimately, create the terms and landscape for a free Iran and a safer Middle East.

If Trump doesn't carry through on his stated genocidal vows -- and yet again finds an excuse to extend the deadline or just fails to do what he promised -- what happens to the credibility of American threats? If Trump does it, it's historic evil. If he doesn't, it's pathetic.

What's the big deal when the leader of a nuclear-armed power -- currently blowing up bridges, schools and oil refineries in Iran -- explicitly threatens to impose civilizational annihilation at 8pm ET (prime-time) tonight? Lighten up, guys. It's just Trump having his fun.
Clay Travis@ClayTravis

Donald Trump has made hyperbolic comments as part of negotiation tactics for a full decade, especially on social media, and yet people still run around like insane people reacting to his posts on here. I truly don’t get it.

@ianbremmer @gzeromedia You’ve been following this conflict long enough to know those are not the only two options. 1. The head of the snake is just about severed. 2. News of Iran’s leverage has been greatly exaggerated.

🚨 TREY YINGST REPORTS: “The CIA leaked through multiple sources that they were trying to move a valuable package out of the country through a maritime exfil, I'm told by a senior U.S. official. This was meant to draw the Iranians away from the area where the U.S. crew member was located. The deception campaign worked.”

Scott Jennings SHATTERS the narrative of former Obama staffer Nayyera Haq after she tries to argue Iran is winning through mimetic warfare. “Do you think the Iranians would rather have their ENTIRE navy back or their memes?” HAQ: “The meme war and internet propaganda, which is something that the Iranians have been known for in influencing…” “And so they had, for all of our talk on our side, of all the people killed in the regime, they have been pushing out through multiple channels around the world, images of the American army generals…” Jennings lets her finish before landing the haymaker. JENNINGS: “Do you think the Iranians would rather have their ENTIRE navy back or their memes?” [Laughs in her face] “I mean come on! We have destroyed 13,000 military targets, and they have memes?!”

Historic night. But tell me again why the last one is not a home run. Player left the field of play while in the act of catching the balll. Both the player and the ball landed in home run territory, establishing control outside the field of play. If the player’s glove would have come off and landed over the wall it would have been a home run. But somehow, because the player, in possession of the ball, landed in home run territory it’s not a home run. One of those baseball rules that doesn’t make sense. (Same with catching a foul ball and tumbling into the stands) But an incredible human accomplishment nonetheless.
