@cactusncookies That more sounds like the death of tipping culture in the USA, I think the straw that broke the camels back was McDonald's asking for a tip on the self service kiosk

Several of us from my family do DoorDash on the side when we need extra money. Most people tip or don’t and never say a word about it. Most have us leave the food at their door. A common thread we’ve seen is that very often black people will meet us at the door and tell us they are going to leave a tip on the app. It never, not once, happens. I’m sincerely asking why they say it when they have no intention of tipping? Why not just have us leave the food and we never see you? Why not just say thank you and go inside. It ONLY happens with black customers and it’s at least a couple per shift. Tbh it’s cruel when we are slaving for low wages and get our hopes up. WHY do they do this?

@jarrodxmartian I work in CNC, what kind of shops did you approach? What was your tolerance, those gears probably need a shop that can do gear hobbing, were you providing raw material?, I can tell you because of ISO tolerances are well respected, but in China they don't care

US manufacturing, you had one job! Quoted $2,500–$4,000 for a damn planetary gearset (JUST the gears, no bearings/carrier) for an in-hub motor. Meanwhile, the whole Chinese donor motor + encoder? **$350** We’re out here trying to build the future and the gearbox costs more than a used Civic. Any startups making affordable planetary gears that don’t require selling a kidney? Hit me up. ⚙️ 🪓⚡️

@tonyvaughanMP Get a grip. A multi-agency incident, the police are busy dealing with a proper investigation into what may be a fatal accident - if it was a relative of yours, you would demand that and ask questions if it was rushed just to open a road. Should Fire Service be handing out water?

A constituent has been stuck on the M25 near Oxted for 8 hours. It is 40 degrees in her car. She has kids with her. She is running out of water. The person from the car in front has been airlifted to hospital with dehydration. Police seem to be saying it’s not their job to give out water. @SurreyPolice @NationalHways please sort this out urgently. People need water and some may need evacuation. You have protocols for this situation - please implement them - this is an emergency! 🙏

Actually, it looks like there is something else going on as well. Possibly, unappreciative adult children looking for free daycare, or still asking for mom to pay everything (looks like grampy is gone), or a combination of things. After enough of these boomertales you realize the boomer grandparent views the (grand)kids as another retirement leisure activity like golf or pickleball or going out to eat instead of becoming a part of a busy, functioning family unit. They literally cannot comprehend it

"why doesn't Valve just subsidize the Steam machine" because in their position, that's a direct violation of the Sherman Antitrust Act. Using the profits from their monopoly position in one sector to vertically integrate or expand into other business lines is illegal

@umaoron @SYACVG Well it’s not that simple. There is a reason they sell them in pairs.

Steam machines will have 16GB of RAM, but due to supply issues, they will either have two sticks of 8GB each or a single 16GB stick. The former may have a negative impact on performance.

@hellspatisserie Dude it's a computer, you can use what ever emulator you want, and yea it doesn't support kernal level anticheat but that's the devs responsibility and decision, not valves

Like, at this price point I’m asking questions about how restrictive the Steam architecture is going to be. Half of what I’d want to be playing is straight up not allowed on that platform. What about an emulation setup, will it let me do that?

@opinali @digitalfoundry The reason this happened is because steam got stiffed on ram also you WANT the single channel stick because when you have MORE money you can upgrade it to 32gb
