Massive fraud reported at Axis Bank’s Begumpet branch in Hyderabad. Around ₹6.5 crore was allegedly siphoned off from the account of an NRI customer living in Australia. Here’s what happened 👇 The NRI had a bank account at the Axis Bank Begumpet branch. While he was abroad, money was reportedly withdrawn using multiple loose-leaf cheques. Investigators say the signatures on the cheques appear to be forged. Reports suggest 40+ cheques were used to withdraw money over time. Total amount involved: around ₹6.5 crore. Police have reportedly arrested the branch manager, and the investigation is ongoing. Authorities are now trying to trace where the money was transferred. This case raises an important question: If such fraud can happen inside a bank account, how safe are banking systems for customers? More details may come out as the investigation progresses.
